I too am confused about this

You would think, yes, though HP right now hits so fast it is easy to miss the dodge and die.

I'm curious why they list DT as a better attacking move than Bite. They do similar damage, and generate similar energy, but Bite being much faster allows you greater timing flexibility for dodging. I like my Bite/Pump Gyarados just fine thank you.

That's by far its best move defensively I think. Stick it in the gym.
