Gyarados basically best pokemon other than Snorlax now?

After the recent buff I can't think of anything except a really good Jolteon that can counter a top notch gyarados, especially if they also have the legacy dragon breath/dragon pulse moveset. They are basically the strongest pokemon except Snorlax now right?

Gyarados is now one of the best attackers,
but he can't really defend because of its very serious weekness to jolteon, who was buffed too.

That's totally true. When a friendly gym is occupied by Gyarados, I can train that gym in just a minute.
But if that gym is occupied by Snorlax, I can use a Gyarados or Vaporeon with 1/2 CP of the first defender to train that gym and earn max 500 prestige point per fight.

Not only does Jolteon absolutely demolish Gyardos but because the low HP of jolteon you can use regular potions to get it back to full health. Very potion efficient.
If you put a Gyardos in a gym your basically sabotaging it imo...

Any electrical better than a Voltorb will quickly damage them - with Magnemites (now buffed) all over the place, a lot of people will have a Jolteon/Magneton/Electabuzz capable of knocking one out, and of course rock Pokémon have been buffed.

Still a strong attacker and useable as a defender, but that double electricity weakness is a killer.

Dragonite with DB/DP is better than Gyarados with DB/DP and both have a double weakness (ice and electric).

By what reasoning? Gyarados is a good overall attacker, and only average defender. Not the best at either.

Gyrados defending is a total can.

My 2000 CP 11/15/15 91% Jolteon with Thunder Shock / Thunder walks right through any Gyrados even as high as 3000 CP.

Don't be fooled by the CP buff. Gyrados is a wimp defending.

I destroy 2.5k Gyaradoses with a 1.2k Discharge Magneton, that's how huge the double electric weakness is. So yeah, it's not going to be a good defender because of that.

I've actually come around to like "Twister" Gyarados for a Defender.

The truth about Gyarados as a defender is the Double Weakness kills. But if I'm beating him with a typical Thunder Electric, I charge my Thunder off the bat, fire it, then charge and watch for Dragon Breath / Hydro before my 2nd Thunder charges.

Generally speaking, I'm one of those players who values time over potions. Which means I rarely, unless its a close fight dodge quick moves, as I want to win faster.

When it comes to Hydro / Dragon moves a Jolteon at about 1/2 CP of the Gyarados will win with about 1/2 hps dodging only charge move. Same Jolteon vs Twister Gyarados will be a close fight because of the unpredictabilty and Twisters firing while Thunder is.

One fault move on Hydro/DP is mean that you are KO, It is totally different to twister.
