Gyarados 98% with Bite and Crunch

Hi there,

I wanted to know why this move set was considered as one of the worst. I used my gyarados against many opponents and this move set proved it self to be really strong. What's your thought on this move set?

I think it's not a "bad" moveset but very "weak" compared to Hydropump. Gyarados has the strongest Hydropump in the game with his 237 in attack.

As an attacker, this moveset could be useful against ghost and psychic mons though, but clearly suboptimal compared to a Gyarados with HP.

This is right. Given what ghost and psychic mons exist (not eggs because the grass charge moves hurt too much) the only real role for this gyarados is against espeon. Personally, my 1700 Umbreon can easily take down a 2800 espeon, so I didnt both using dust/candy on my double dark gyarados.

For your reference http://pogomoves.com/check.php?lang=en&pkmn=Gyarados&basic=Bite&charge=Crunch putting movesets with twister aside, that moveset is the worst possible offensive moveset for gyarados and on defensive duty the moveset is also terrible, being the second-worst. Gyarados has high attack stats that's why he still rekts gyms when used as an attacker even with terrible movesets like B+C which only deals 79% the dps of DT+HP (highest dps offensive moveset). I think gyarados with DT/B+HP are general attacking monsters and those with DT+OR could be specialized into attacking dragonites, I think other than those movesets is suboptimal

I have the same but a bit better with Dragon Fast attack. Anyway it crushes Gengar. CRUSHES. But where is gengar anyway? I've only seen 1 in a gym once so overall is not useful now.
