I can see Heatran being a good option to run alongside Giratina. Fire will also shut down most ice Mons that would be used to counter Giratina, and it should tank its way through Granbull as well (another Giratina counter I've been seeing more frequently). If you invest in a second attack to give Heatran stone edge, then it will have additional versatility in bringing down flying-types. It gets absolutely wrecked by ground though, so watch out for that.

Good wingmen for Giratina in Ultra?
I'm trading for a Giratina with double Dragon moves, and I'm wondering what would be good Pokemon to back it up (to be in the other two slots)
I was thinking Heatran as it tanks Ice, Fairy, and Steel attacks while dealing super effective damage to Giratina's hard counters. (Melmetal, Steelix, Scizor) Would this be a good choice? (I have a 2380 Heatran with FS/FB) And what other Pokemon would be good for this?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there are too many Ground types in Ultra league at the moment. If there are any, I haven't really seen them being brought up as potential counters. So I think Heatran's safe for the time being. Hippowdon though, could be a great Ultra league ground type once released.
Heatran seems nice, but it loses a neutral fight against Umbreon, for instance, so you need something else as well. Blastoise or Meganium would be a good third choice, as they can win most neutral matchups and shore up some of Giratina's weaknesses that Heatran doesn't cover. Both also come with cheap coverage against some of their own counters.
