Golem or Golem

So i've got 3 golem (kantonian) and 2 alolan geodude, all really high (91+ IV's) stats and max attack. Is there any match up where an alolan golem is better than a Kantonian such that it would be more useful to power up the alolan's? (candy is a nonissue)

Solar Beam Ho-Oh *cough*. Single weak not double, while still getting STAB and 1.96x damage boost.

Generally speaking, I would boost A-Golem anyway over K-Golem. Only 1 double weakness as opposed to two, and that to Ground versus Water and Grass, with access to the same Rock set and the same stats. Six weaknesses and two of them double is...quite a bit.

They are now sharing the tier 5 raids with Regirock here. Saw a couple of Hoes this morning.

Kantonian is weak to ice and alolan is neutral.
Kantonian resist flying and alolan double resist flying.
So alolan is better
Edit: electric only adds a weakness to ground, which is rock already weak to.

Honestly, it feels like they fixed the repetitive Ground/Rock typing issue that plagued Gen I by switching it up on A-Geodude's line.

YEah, k-golem's ground sub type helped it no situations other than one, Zapdos, in other circumstances, it was a hinderance *cough cough Articuno, cough cough Solar Beam Ho-oh*

I agree with the previous replies that A-Golem is the better investment right now compared to K-Golem. That said, if you're stocked with T-tars from community day, they entirely blow both Golems out of the water, and once we get Gen 4, Rampardos will likely be the (glassy) DPS king for rock-types with potential for Rhyperior to be a strong contender as well.

I'd say invest in one if you need to, but I wouldn't prioritize it.

A-Golem has additional obvious advantages against Ho-Oh than just the single weakness to Solar Beam.

- Neutral damage from Steel Wing instead of a weakness
- Doubly resists Brave Bird rather than single resistance
- Performs exactly the same against Extrasensory and Fire Blast.

For future raids, they'll both perform exactly the same against Moltres come Moltres day unless they give Moltres Sky Attack as a 3-hour exclusive move or something. In that case A-Golem is better yet again. A-Golem has no weaknesses to ice if Articuno returns yet again, it takes less damage from Lugia's Hydro Pump and Sky Attack, it resists Rayquaza's flying type moves better, the list can go on.

Between the two, the only times K-Golem squares up better are against electric and poison types, leaving Raikou and Zapdos. Long term there's Zekrom, LONG long term there's Tapu Koko and Nihilego. That said, if you're using K-Golem as a ground attacker you've got bigger issues.
