I have two Golems, one double rock one double ground. Geodudes are not common in my area and it would be difficult to simply evolve another one. Should I TM the double ground Golem to get a second double rock? I've heard both stone edge and rock blast are good moves. Would it be worth it?

I'm in the same situation and have another related question.

Gamepress lists RT/RB and MS/EQ both as A moves. But other sources (Poke Genie, Pokemongohub, Pogomoves) have RT/EQ as the 2nd best moveset. I'm tempted to fast TM mine for RT/EQ but would like to understand the disparity between sources. I'm thinking that a double ground Golem wouldn't be the first choice because Rhydon has better stats. So why not have a mixed set? Or, is RB actually better on Golem than EQ?

With today's raid mechanic, pure play mon is king. You want stab, single type that is at least super effective. Mixed types are generally less efficient in terms of dps/damage.
Regarding your question about TM to get 2nd rock golem, it's basically a gamble, if your resources can support it. Unless you are a top player who wants to solo all level 3 raids, I don't recommend TMI the 2nd golem.

Double Rock Golem is a very valuable Pokemon, so if you can spare the TMs, its not a bad play.

Also depends on if you have double ground Rhydons. Because a double ground comes in handy vs Jolteon, Muk and Weezing bosses.

You could wait till the weekend and see what happens...

if legendary birds make an appearance or raid bosses change and Golem is a Raid boss, you can try to make a move then...

Using 2 TMs is pretty pricey though...also would depend on IVs for me since that's part of my endgame...(get 97% and 100% mons with ideal moves).

I TMed a 97% RT/EQ Golem and got RT/SE...Rhydon will do any ground attack better (higher attack, better bulk) so a Ground Golem in the current move pool is non-ideal.

Things can change and Rhydon can get a rock quick move and Golem will now be second tier, but who knows...For all we know, after a move change/update, NO mon could learn a double rock move anymore so play based on all those factors in mind...

I know I was/have been evolving high level Geodudes -> Golems randomly in case something like that happens...but Geodudes are common for me that I use them for evolve fodder actually.

Edit 1: Also wanted to add that mix moves for Golem would be bad if the Legendary birds make an appearance as all of them are immune (0.51x) to ground attacks...so a MS/RB or SE Golem will be doing a LOT (1.96x vs Articuno and Moltres) less damage compared to the RT/RB or SE variant.

Pretty much what the person above said. Was typing something similar.

I wouldn't waste if, at least for now. It is not like you are going to take down a legendary by yourself, and for all we know, Niantic may reshuffle the moves and give Rhydon a Rock fast move, which would make Golem obsolete.

BTW, I had a 984 geodude flee from me yesterday. I'm still upset about it.

Yeah, Golem is more valued for his double-rock movesets, so any mixed rock/ground or double-ground movesets, u will be better off having that in Rhydon instead.

In any case, will be doing a double-rock golem tests soon ;)
