I think they made a mistake. Their explanation doesn't make sense.

Without solid number crunching.

The rough numbers look like they should be same rank. Or with the new "Minuses" at most that different

Mudslap is 14% more DPS
Mudshot is 36% more Energy

For comparison sake on Machamp Counter(A) Karate Chop (A-) though I have seen parse sites that say KC/DP does more DPS than Counter/DPS.

Counter 33% More Damage
KC 40% more energy

((Keep in Mind DP is far more energy efficient than anything than Golem has to use, BUT 40 energy vs33 dps is a way smaller gap than 36 energy vs 14 damage))

Or Look at Dragonite where DT and DB have same rating yet
DT does 11% More Damage
DT does 2% more energy
So DT is better at both functions than DB but yet DB maintains equal rating for the Dodge All Crowd

Actually I think Mud Shot is better than Mud Slap. You can usually fit in 3 Mud Shots between dodges, but only 1 Mud Slap. Both do a total of 15 damage, but Mud Shot still has higher energy gain.

Will likely go from A to A- just like Water Moves did for Lapras.

I think MS+E should remain as A though. As it's Golem's highest DPS ground moveset. Movesets are graded in relativity to other moves of the same Pokemon. So we aren't comparing Mud Golem to Mud Rhydon.
