Gold gym : How many do you have and What is your longest duration
Answers
It is an answer that shows a lack of empathy and lack of understanding for what some players need to go through.
We don't all have endless/vast numbers of pokestops nearby, and some of us need to travel to a suitable spot and dedicate time just to collecting resources.
For me, this is just over 2.5kms away. The place has 14 stops, of which 5 have become gyms.
By having gold badges, and taking over gyms, I am able to take less than half the time I used to, in replacing my resources.
Instead of 3 items per stop, I can make it at least double that from every spin.
If I can save myself literally hours each week, which is usually dedicated to resupply of resouces - and that is not an insignificant difference.
.
Getting gold gyms is VERY advantageuos, and even smart play for some players.
Why would I stop at silver when I can go for gold?
I'm not trying to get gold, it will happen eventually if you visit/battle/defend/raid at a gym. But the extra items (and gyms being stops) have helped me a lot. Under the old system I used to constantly run out of items, and even have to buy balls sometimes... Now I have hundreds of balls and all the potions I need. So gold badges are definitely worth it.
Other than, more items which is significant on first spin and 7 days spin; I try to get them as they have much higher rate to giving 10K eggs than regular pokestops. I have 8 gold badges. My 10K egg hatches are significantly higher now. They are good 10K as well my last 10 10K eggs are: Larvitar, Dratini, Larvitar, Larvitar, Mareep, Larvitar, Dratini, Dratini, Porygon, Aerodactyl.
Enough said
I am currently at 15 gold badges. Your gym badge level is also visible to everyone at a raid. There is definitely a pretty large imbalance between the amount of time required to obtain a gold badge and the additional items you receive from it. That being said, hard to beat spinning a gold gym for your 7 day steak and getting like 35 items.
I have 20 and close on other 4 in town. But given up on them at present as we have visiting guys from Singapore air force staying in town and they constantly kick me out of those 4 gyms that are near their hotel so I figure wait until they go home lol. Obviously that's just how they play in Singapore.
There are really only 6 gyms within walking distance of my home, which account for 95% of my gym activity. I have 3 of these gold and the other more than half the way. One turns over constantly so it's the least. I have one gold from a remote gym that I can stop by and hit from my car, but this provides me almost no value as I won't stop just to spin it. This is the one with the most time defended = 34d 3h. By contrast the one right across the street that turns over a lot I have defended 2d 23h.
