This morning, I pulled into the parking lot of a gym that I attack EVERY SINGLE MORNING.
But, when I got there, it was already my color, and someone had just taken it over. There was only one Mon in it. Not being the type to look a gift horse in the mouth,I put a nice high level in there and left.
Now here's the part that might be a glitch:
My total count for Ace Trainer went up by one! I didn't actually "train", I just put a mon in an empty slot. Has it always been this way?
It has not always been that way.
My 5yo son has an account that has collected about 140 coins from gyms, but has a 'Trainer' count of zero.
That is, he has added to a gym occasionally when I have taken it and he is around, but never taken part in the fight. He has not done it often, but he does have a handful of pokecoins without a fight count.
