Getting the most from my to-be 9th maxed mon (and all-time favourite)

The 14 IV is Defence.
No point saving for a Community Day.
I will only catch a perfect shiny in my dreams. /s
Most importantly, Groudon is back!

Why does https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/raid-boss-counter/groudon-raid-counter-guide list only Kyogre and Feraligatr as supreme counters?
SoB is SE vs. them and the double resistance to EQ is huge.

The button to unlock a second charged move is not there! /s
Which combination should I get?
Of course, I want HP for Groudon. How about gym defence?
Cr: SE vs. Metagross, NVE vs. Rock Tyranitar and Machamp.
OR: SE vs. dragons, NVE vs. Metagross.
(Should I switch to Crunch + Outrage after Groudon leaves?)

Even at level 30, my 93% water dragon with only HP earns more coins on average than my maxed Metagross and Blissey!
Deserves a promotion from tier 2.5 to 2 especially with Mamoswine coming to destroy Dragonite.

A Supreme counter is a Pokemon that makes the best performance in all scenarios. I'm also really skeptical about Feraligatr as a supreme counter, for a few reasons:

1.- It gets blown into pieces with Groudon's Solarbeam.
2.- Against Earthquake Groudon's, Gyarados it's SO much better.

Maybe they're lazy while writing the guide?

Go and max out that beautiful Magikarp. I have 3 Maxed out Gyarados, and they're just awesome.

Definitely seems like whoever wrote the guide was lazy. A supreme counter is like Raikou against Kyogre, amazing against any moveset.

Go for it! This was my first maxed out mon and I’ve never regretted it. Likewise, I search for that elusive perfect golden karp, but I’m not holding my breath... although I did happen to hatch a near-perfect shiny Growlithe this afternoon!

I just bought a 2nd move (had crunch, lucky it got HP) on a 14a/13/13 level 34 lucky Gyarados...just maxed it. Did that instead of powering up a level 30 100% that already had hydropump. Coin flip decision for me, ok with my pick. I have two maxed Kyogre and another at 37; two Groudon at 38.5...probably just raid for some Groudon candy, maybe just free pass raiding.

I'd say keep crunch/HP for gym defense/offense, as no one will be fighting a gyarados with machamp or metagross, and metagross in gyms are weak to crunch. HP hits tyrantiar hard, and crunch is spamable on raikou, electavire and eventually magnazone

Most I know dont go for gyarados with dragons, specifically because it can gave outrage.

I take down Gyarados with Machamp. He's only singly NVE. I haven't had any problems still using 6 Machamp even after the effectiveness adjustment.

Ive done so too, though with metagross, and it was always a bit of a slog, gyarados does have a good bit of bulk and that resistance. Its not particularly hard, just annoying.

"No point saving for a Community Day."
Maybe not specifically for that but Breloom's soon-to-be limited access to Grass Knot proves that any species can get an exclusive move any time in the future so it is still incredibly important to not take anything for granted, not dismiss any possibility for any Pokemon to become time-limitedly better regardless of its CD likelihood, and never evolve anything that you do not need. Patience is what separates champions from rookie trainers in this game.
Having said all that, Gyarados is an immediately usable and valuable addition to any anti-Groudon team so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I will still save my hundo this time tho.
