Genger with focus blast sucks?!

I know that genger with h/sh ball is the best. But I found sucker punch and focus blast is quite good with dodging charge moves only against common defenders like blissey, snorlax and chansey. Best option is pure fighter like machamp. But such gengar is quite serviceable.

Am I right?
