Gengar use

Does gengar have any use? If so what?

I think the consensus is that no, he doesn't really. He'll plow through a Vape really quickly but he's not bulky enough to last many battles. Basically, there's no role for him where he isn't bettered by several other 'mons.

He's fun to use though. I invested a lot of dust in my SC/ShB Gengar and the only reason I'm not regretting it is that he's cool :-)

I have SC/ShB that's why I was wondering but it's from the Halloween event before I knew what IVs are so his IVs arent the best. I was Wondering if I should invest in him. I also have 150 candies and a ghastly that's a 96 overall IV.

I use my SC/ShBa vs psychic defenders like Espeon, Slowbro and sometimes Egg. It is the hardest hitter in the game and very potion efficient but you have to dodge.

He is a cool factor pokemon so he is who you use when you find a sub pare defender just to kill them very fast.

He has double resistance to bug, poison and fighting moves. Could probably mess up machamp, heracross, pinsir and muk; but you don't see these often.

Didn't think of that it will probably be much more relevant when pvp is out

i have a 2189cp lvl30 gengar w/ sucker punch and dark pulse. powered him up all the way from lvl20 coz i didn't get any luck on a sc/shb one. hmm or maybe coz i find gengar to be really cool that's why i pulled the trigger. dunno, lol.

SC + SB or SB (lol) is a great generalist attacker if you're running low on time and have potions to spare! As a student at a university, this comes in handy between classes ;) I generally fill him in when attacking other gyms and have already filled most of my slots with counters

Another website said that a Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball had 100% effective damage against an Espeon. I had a Gengar just like that, about 2200cp. So I tried it out and got completely wasted. I got the Espeon down to about 25% before swapping out at 10% health.

I use my gengar take on Dragonite, preferably ones with dragon breath so that I take much less damage when dodging. He does so much damage but you have to dodge everything

I use the Shadow Claw/sludgebomb one against low level Blissey. You have to dodge but it is quite fast. So i do doubt that shadow bomb one is better than sludgebomb.
