Gengar Question

I'm struggling to decide wich Gengar to power up, I really want one at least level 30 and haven't done it so far. Hope you guys could help me.

I have 2 Gengar with shadow claw / shadow ball (82% IV):
A - 13/10/14 (hp/atk/def) - level 25
B - 15/15/07 (hp/atk/def) - level 22

And I recently got one 15/14/14 - level 20 (full dark moveset).

Assuming I TM it to Hex / shadow ball, would it be better to power up one with Hex and better IV or one with legacy Shadow Claw and worse IV?
Thanks

Shadow claw is better than hex regardless of iv. I would power both legacy gengars.

The 15 attack shadow claw one doesn't look too bad, I would do it. I have 15 Sta on my Gengar, it's alright. And you're not losing much damage regarding breakpoints.

14 defense is also fine, at high level it's two damage per Alakazams Confusion (okay that is a bit much). Either of them are fine regarding breakpoints in raids actually.

I don't know what you mean when you say you recently got one with full dark moveset, because Gengar has not had an available dark charge move for a long time. If you are going to need both a fast TM and a charge TM to get H/SB, I would hesitate unless you have a LOT of charge TM's, because it might take a lot of tries to get the charge move you want (it took me six charge TM's to get SB on my legacy SC/DP Gengar). It might be easier to get a H/SB Gengar from a raid or an evolution.

I'd suggest powering up the 15/15/07 SC/SB to level 30 first. That will reach important damage breakpoints against both Gengar and Alakazam raid bosses. If you want to reach the final breakpoint against Mewtwo, you would need to power it to level 32.5.

I would wait on the 13/10/14 SC/SB, unless you have a lot of candy and stardust to spare. That one will need to be powered up to level 35 to reach the same damage breakpoint against Mewtwo that the other one reaches at level 32.5, although there is not as much of a difference against Gengar and Alakazam.

SC is usually better than hex, but not always. Against confusion Alakazam, for example, the higher energy gain of hex will likely allow you to launch an extra SB in the short time that Gengar survives the barrage of confusion. I would power up a very high IV hex Gengar before I would power up your second SC/SB, but I would wait until I acquire a Gengar that at least already has SB for a charge move (requiring only a fast TM at most). If you have the ability to solo a Gengar raid boss, keep trying until you get one with IV's & moves that will be worthwhile to power up.
