Gengar observations from Asia
1. When you evolve a Gastly or Haunter caught pre-event it does indeed evolve to Lick and Psychic.
2. Good amount of Shinies at raids ... seems like more than usual. Shiny looks virtually the same so a bit disappointing.
3. Several complained Gengar was harder than usual to hit due to the long distance ... I use an old phone and odd curveball style so this was very true for me. Gengar has always been a long throw and Niantic did not appear to adjust / dumb this down for Noobs.
4. Catch rate reasonable. I used mostly regular berries (saving gold raz) and not Great shots (see distance problem above) .
5. I did not yet TM to shadowball, but all other charge moves exist
6. It is indeed a Tier 4 raid / level of CP thus hard to duo. Sludge Bomb was not so bad (sunny weather for me thus Groudon was a monster) shadowball and focus blast a hard duo.

Thanks going to a Dia de los Muertos festival/parade with wife/son starting right when the raids begin. Might can sneak one in since my team(s) are pretty powerful but not a chain raid opportunity.***used three of the free bonus passes on Giratina raids at 630am. Got a lucky Giratina this morning so more motivated to get as much candy as freely possible.
I cant believe this. i have opposite feelings in Europe. Shiny rate was extremely low. Most of us got 0-1 on 15-16 raids. From my whole community, one guy got 3, and three person got 2. Rest(~ 20 of us) have between 0-1.Catching was pain also, slowing down trip. I have 0 Shiny, and its really dissapointed, cause had prepared 4 lucky(91-98% Haunters) and 4 regular 91-98% so i raiding only for shiny and ended up with noone ;/
And shiny looks like normal one.
Overall, big dissapointed day.
Can confirm Shadow Ball available from TM.
Evolved level 15 98% Gastly to Gengar (2 steps), got Lick/Psychic. CTM once, got Focus Blast, CTM again, got Shadow Ball. Now just to power him up.
Tried a FTM on a Sucker Punch/Shadow Ball Gengar, got Hex (no surprise, didn't expect Lick to be available through TM). Was going to TM anyway, just thought I'd try it now.
