Gengar: Legacy Moveset vs IVs

So I have a 100% Gengar with Hex/Shadowball and a Gengar at 82% 13/11/13 with the Legacy set of Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball. My question is which one will out perform the other in DPS? I will probably power them both up to help my Alakazam raid team, but would still like to know which one has more potential.

A 0/0/0 Gengar with SC/SB will out DPS a 15/15/15 Gengar with H/SB.

I was the same doubt about it, you said that a 0/0/0 gengar make more DPS that a 15/15/15 gengar.
I want a SC gengar but the only one that I have is a wild catched that have 50%IV gengar with terrible atk IV

these are the results of the calculator

Level HP ATK DEF Total
13.5 12 1 11 24/45 (53.3%)
13.5 11 3 10 24/45 (53.3%)
13.5 12 6 5 23/45 (51.1%)
13.5 12 5 6 23/45 (51.1%)
13.5 11 7 5 23/45 (51.1%)
13.5 11 6 6 23/45 (51.1%)

as you can see the worst one is 1atk IV. I have also read that a 0IV SC is not really best than a 15IV H so I dont know if power up my SC gengar or not.

Shadow Claw for sure. Shadow Claw outperforms Hex even with minimal IVs, and yours has really good IVs. With high attack IV there's probably not any significant breakpoint that this Gengar can't reach that a 15 attack one could.

Your Hex one will be only slightly more survivable than the one with SC due to it's higher defensive IVs but that doesn't make up for SC being a better move - you'll still do more total damage despite fainting slightly sooner, and you'll do that damage quicker, and you can get around that survivability through a few power ups, but an equal amount of power ups on the Hex Gengar won't put it anywhere near the DPS of a SC Gengar.

Look at any simulations where Gengar is useful in, and Shadow Claw will be faster by a considerable amount. Alakazam is a good example. With realistic dodging, SC has a theoretical time of around <160s even against the Shadow Ball movesets - the most difficult one - which is a lot of room for error, while Hex barely gets it done in time around the 175s mark.

The SC Gengar for sure. Moveset means more than a small difference in stats.
Against C Alakazam their damage output will be pretty similar as long as they can survive three Confusions (at L30 both should be ok for that I think), but against PC movesets there will be a larger difference to notice.

Same thing happened to me, I've got 3 legacy SC Gengars all in the mid 80s for IVs, then a month or so ago I hatched a perfect Gastly, evolved just cuz and got Hex/Shadow Ball. I never use any of them, not since Lugia was a raid boss, but if I did it would be the SCs.
