Gengar investment worth?
Hi, I have an 80% IV 15A/11D/10S Gengar with legacy Shadow Claw / Shadow Ball from the old days, would it be advisable to max him out? Right now at lvl35, and struggling with stardust.. I kind of know it’s a total glass cannon, but I haven’t been using it that much in the last few months and I started to think ahead for the Eon Duo. Thank you!

If it's at L35 right now, and you are short on dust, I'd leave it as is. Yours is better than my L35 SC/SB Gengar (10A), and I can't find a justification to power up mine. Against Mewtwo, Alakazam, etc., my L35 does almost as well as it would do at L40, so I wouldn't gain much by powering it up. And it takes a LOT of dust to go from L35 to L40.
Very much of a glass canon. I am a fan, but would only advise to further power up if you do Tier 3 raids such as Claydol and Alakazam.
Totally not worth the investing for Tier 5 raids, because all that star dust is not going to reward you with anything additional.
P.S. My banette (Not Gengar) is even so fragile, that sometimes it isn't able to shoot two shadow balls against Confusion Alakazam due to the low charging of Shadow Claw. I'm not sure how this compares to Gengar, but I'm happy with Hex on mine.
To your last paragraph, on my first successful 'Zam solo, against C/FS, I failed three times using a SC/SB Gengar, and was never able to launch two SB's. On the fourth try, I switched to a similar level H/SB Gengar, and was able to launch two SB's and beat the 'Zam boss.
Most of the time, SC/SB is better, but against confusion Alakazam, the energy build of hex seems to trump the higher DPS of SC. And I know that the simulations do not necessarily reflect this, but I am speaking from practical experience.
