Decided to YOLO and toss 200 candies and about 150k dust on a high level high IV slakoth. Jumped right up to 4502CP. VRey disappointed seeing its defensive performance. Dealt about 30 damage to a Machamp and died in maybe 30 seconds. Maybe its better in offense where the target can't dodge?

Breloom cant outdps machamp. His hp will generate more energy which will lead faster charge moves.

Gardevoir C/DG is a much better defender than any of the 3 you mentioned. She's a nightmare matchup for the top meta attackers.
Also a good attacker into fighting moves Machamp and an efficient attacker into gym dragons.

Latios is the only relevant Lati. Latias has too low attack stat to be of any relevancy as an attacker of either of its types. Same is probably true for Regirock and Regice, they are going to have pitiful DPS.

It's more complicated than that. HP is doubled, yes, but all that means is that tankiness is doubled. How long a defender lasts is still a product of its HP and Def. Gardevoir has about 80% of Dragonite's tankiness in a gym, which isn't great, but it's a meta defender whose use is to sit between Blissey and Snorlax and force the attacker to do something else than just pick Machamp and Dragonite and press fight.
