A fun evening!

Yesterday as I left work I was in a unique position. No one was going to be home all evening! I had hours of free time. I had an abundance of potions and revives, and decided to do something I haven't done in at least 6 months.
I went gym storming!
I hit 11 enemy gyms in about a 32 mile drive. 4 were 10 towers, 1 at 9, and the rest were all level 5 - 8. Solo, I took them all. It was a blast! It took about 3 hours with all the driving. It also took almost 90 excess junk potions and revives out of my bag, which is good.
I was hoping that some of the people that I kicked out would think that maybe Niantic kicked them out and not go retake them.
Alas, by this morning I was only in 1 of those 11 gyms, but it was still great fun.

Pretty fast...I think a single level 10 alone would take me 1 hour...

I don't have any elite attackers though (Dnite)...

I am right there with you. I have a Dnite i have been building up. Other than that, I have to play the match ups.

I have a decent attack squad, and since I didn't care about potions or revives, I didn't dodge much or worry about if I lost the first attack. Just as long as I was taking prestige away from the gym.

One of my favorite stories. There's a cluster of Gyms that are all 10 towers, 5 of them.

The farthest south one, is literally 10 houses from the start of another teams territory. Thier territory extends for miles and just on that road alone probably the next 8 towers were theirs and 10.

One of their players must have been trying to expand. He'd take one of our 5 towers, put a pokemon in. It would be retaken (we have 3 players that live in sight of all 5) and rebuilt within hour. He did this each day for like a week. A different one of the 5 each day.

So I went down the street and blew up all 8 of their towers, of which he was at the top/2nd of 7 of them. I put stuff like Lickitungs in.

He hasn't retouched one of our 5 since.

Thank your rival for having spiced up your boring situation. Can you imagine anything more dead than a cluster of stable towers?

What if? Are you going to hurt me?
Those towers are neither yours nor stable , unless you can prestige faster than i can attack.

Of course, all their towers were rebuilt within 24 hours to level 10 too...

I was kicked out of one of my level 10 towers like 2 days ago even with the rework coming...I drove by and stuck my mon in the top without prestiging it since it was only level 2 (2 mons only) at the time...I assume it would fall if someone had 30 - 60 minutes to waste to tear down the level 10, but, next day, I pass by, it's level 10 again with the usual suspects...

Sorta funny people attack stagnant gyms and waste 30-60 minutes, and within or less than 24 hours, it's back to level 10 again.

Simply a waste of time to attack rival gyms that tend to stagnate.

Yes, this is not really rewarding to take one of those towers once and alone. It is more fun to team up and take down more than one of those towers, and to do this repeatedly.

This reminds me a little bit of a less exciting but still funny thing that happened to me. A week or so ago I had been around an area with a number of high turnover gyms that I hadn't been interacting with, but I did notice that they had strangely been left empty every time I logged in and checked. After noticing it one afternoon and lasting through the night, the next morning when I was in the area I noticed the gyms again being knocked down and left empty.

I figured that it was either a coordinated team of griefers or someone spoofing, so I decided to have some fun with them. I had just flagged a few Lickitung for prestige trash, so I walked over to one of the gyms, popped it in, and then started walking to another to do the same. On the walk over, the first gym was taken down and left empty. I jogged back to the first, popped in a second Lickitung, and jogged to the second gym. As I put in a Lickitung in the second gym, the first was again under attack, but this time whoever was doing this popped in 3 Lickitung.

I attacked that gym to replace their Lickitungs with my own, but as I was finishing the last battle to take out the gym, I noticed a stranger's Machamp in the battle with me. Assuming it was one of the 3 previous accounts trying to help their teammates gym snipe me, I backed out of the battle, waited for the gym to fall, and Pogo assumed I was one of the attackers so it allowed me to place yet another Lickitung.

At that point I left it alone, but was a bit paranoid when I noticed a long-standing gym I was in was knocked down later that day and left empty. My other gyms were left untouched so I assume it wasn't connected to the Lickitung games that morning.

Nice. I am still waiting for somebody complaining about a raid of spoofers having invaded their area and taken all the gyms.

Sometimes it does not need a raid of spoofers - one single player can do this. :-)

I like to read such stories. Maybe i should do the same - the non-aggression-pact i have with some inividual rivals starts to bore me. 200 Max-Potions are waiting to be invested.
I am not sure, whether i better should leave the demolished gyms empty.

Niantic is taking them all out anyway. That's why I did it. I'll have all those potions and revives built back up within a week.
