So I have 5 smack down tyranitars but only 2 bite/crunch. Fairly soon I'm going to need another bite/crunch tyranitar. To obtain and power up another tyranitar will take me forever probally considering I don't have any candies left getting these so high. What are your opinions?
With Smack Down being legacy coupled with Tyranitar being the best rock type attacker at the moment it's hard to suggest TM'ing it. Are you able to do any Tyranitar raids between now and soon? I'm assuming this is for a Mewtwo raid.
Otherwise if you absolutely HAD to TM one, I'd pick one that doesn't have Stone Edge as a charge move.
I agree, Dark tyranitar is the factually better set, it has more use and is more reliable as many pokemon from now until the end of the series are consistently weak to dark
but Rock is also good, its the best rock attacker, and with the Articuno day coming up, it will be needed to do as many as fast as possible. Try to do as many raids as you can, see if you can get part of a group chat and be on the look out for them
To paraphrase a famous movie quote, 'If you FTM your SD Ttar, you'll regret it. Not today, not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life.' You can't TM it back, and someday, when you need as many SD Ttars as possible, you won't have that one. If you're short on candy, do a few Ttar raids, and if you get lucky, and it's partly cloudy (or foggy) you can get one at level 25 with the right moveset and good IVs. If you get unlucky, 10 Ttar candy. I wouldn't take an irreversible step and get rid of the only strong Rock fast move on Ttar.
