Exeggutor vs. Slowbro

Obviously Exeggutor is statistically better than Slowbro. However, does anyone use Slowbro over Exeggutor? (Confusion/Psychic moveset, and using for defense)

I have a 2750 eggx I use my 2300 slowbro not so much

I do the same. I don't think slowbro is as strong since being nerfed, even though it shares the same well-regarded confusion/psychic move set as Exeggcuter. You're asking a good question, as I no longer see Slowbro in gyms anymore, and when I use one, it isn't very effective.

I don't usually use either on defense. Keep in mind Slo did get nerfed but whenever it is that gen 2 comes, slo gets to evolve and hopefully gain use again

Unfortunately you're wrong about that. Slowking does come indeed, but it evolves from Slowpoke, not Slowbro. So after gen 2, Slowpoke can evolve into either Slowbro or Slowking. They both have the exact same stats too, so that will hardly bring anything new to the game regarding Slowpoke family.

I use them both. When slowbro was nerfed it was only 5%.

Exeggutor is much easier to counter which isn't necessarily horrible if you like to prestige quickly before leaving gym.

Slowbro is all or nothing, gotta keep it maxed to keep the CP as high as possible. Still the same great defensive poke from before the update. Better typing than exeggutor while still having the con/psy set.

If I'm first in a gym I put in a easy to prestige poke like exeggutor/dragonite and open up a few extras for lazy players. Just depends on the situation.

Good advice - can you expand on "if first in a gym...open up a few extras for lazy players". If you're first in a gym, 2 trainers can already jump on board for free, so if you're prestiging does that mean you're training in vain to open up slots that are already open? How does it work in practice?

Every time I take a gym and put one in without prestiging it never goes over level 3. On top of that players usually don't care to put thought into what sits in the bottom so they will put in a 1600 snorlax or something that just takes a long time to prestige.

On the other hand, if I throw in an exeggutor(or something like it), prestige it quickly with bugs for 10 mins and bring it up a few slots on top of what's already there it fills up with players that apparently couldn't be bothered otherwise to prestige it themselves also adding their 2000 which is nice.

It's just funny how fast empty spots fill up but no gyms around me ever get prestiged.

So definitely not prestiging in vain, its either going to be a lvl 3 gym or a lvl 6+
