Ex raid pass use

I have a question about how ex raid passes are used. For the first time there is multiple ex raids at the same time at different gyms in the area. Sadly my wife and I got invited to separate ones. Is it possible to use an ex raid at any ex raid or does it have to be the one you were invited to? Little risky testing it.

Unfortunately they have to be used where stated.. Would be nice if they could use used within a certain mile radius to compensate for such times but well.. Niantic ?
