Dynamic Punch seems to be the popular vote over Close Combat, as to why he's probably asking

Why not?
If candy is an issue = Walk with him...
If dust is an issue = catch more pokes / hard work at GYM
Or simply send to Mr. Prof Willow if still have some issue....

I actually prefer C/CC to DP movesets, it's slightly easier to dodge and that's pretty important with Machamp. He's not exactly bulky.

I would max it out. Fighting is super effective against three of the top defenders.
