Evolution Items Biome and Need for Future Gen

I think the evolution item depends on the location of the pokestop. I live in an industrial area near a beach/body of water. I only get metal coat (already 7), Sunstone (already at 5), dragon scale (3). Never got a freaking King's rock. Do I need these items in future pokemon generations (gen III or IV)? It's a waste to discard them.

Its a waste to discard them because they are so rare. Drop potions. Evolve the mons. You get double xp for using one of those items.

Yeah hate to break but no other pokemon aside from kingdra uses dragon scale and the only ones to use kings rock is politoad and slowking and same for metal coat only use for steelix and scizor. Upgrade is only for getting porgyon 2 and they'll most likely add the Dubious disc for poygon z whenever gen4 is added. Sun stone is not need for any evolution until gen5 for 2 pokemon and gen6 for 1. Your worry will have to be directed at any new evo item theyll add for some pokemon for gen3, 4, and 6. Also noting that any pokemon that requires water, leaf, fire, electric or moon stone can be ignored.
