Evolution item drop rates ridiculously low.
I got a Sun stone 3 days into the Gen 2 drop and another one 4 days later on my 7day streak and absolutely NOTHING since. I estimate I have been to over 500 pokestops and am getting very discouraged. Three more 7-day streaks have passed with nothing. Any hope Niantic going to change this?

A friend has gotten all of them, doubles of some, so I am even more frustrated. Is there any suggestion that they are in specific areas? She lives in a different part of the city. But then, I have been back to the same 2 Pokestops that gave me the Sun Stones every single day with nothing to show :-(
I have got:
2 dragon scales
3 sun stones
4 metal coats
2 king's rocks
0 up-grade
if you have spun 500 stops without evolution items, I would say you are unlucky. I think i read from somewhere that the drop rate is 0.4%. even if it's based on stops, you should normally have got 2 evolution items from the 500 spins.
I've gotten:
5 Sunstones
5 King's Rocks
3 Metal Coats
1 Up Grade
1 Dragon Scale
I've probably spun an average of 100 pokestops/day since Gen 2 was launched.
Sometimes I've gotten 2-3 relatively close together, and sometimes I've gotten zero over periods of 200-300 or more spun pokestops. You'll get them eventually.
I've gotten a few. Preliminary research on SR pointed to a drop rate of 1/700 or so early on. Also further research is making it look like the 7 day thing was a planned anomaly. They are very rare which is why it isn't that hard to have a bad run of excruciatingly poor luck. Keep spinning and it will even out.
I walk my dogs every weekday down a route that bypasses my nearest non-gym Pokestop.
That's at least 5 spins a week which is 20 spins a month totaling roughly 160 spins since last July and sometimes I get the opportunity to spin multiple times/stops in one outing.
A significant example is a couple of days ago, my stepdad and I took my niece to the park (I've yet to find a park without a pokestop) and she played long enough to buy me 5-10 spins.
That's a very rough total of 200-300 spins.
Tidbit: You're awarded fewer and fewer items each time you spin the same stop and greatballs or greater are less frequent.
So far I've gotten one evolution item; a sunstone and it was probably from the one streak I've managed to complete.
This is difficult to argue with, ridiculous rates indeed. Roughly the same as the shiny rate in the console games.
I get that rarities motivate interest which I'm all for but there is always a line, with anything.
