An evaluation of legendary boss catches and their difficulty
Some of you have probably done more raids than I do so these stats may not be statistically signnificant. However, I would like to see if you guys agree with some of the points I make here:
Articuno: As the 'first' legendary (and my team bird), I was really nervous during my first catch attempts. I have not even caught a tyranitar from a raid before this. I didn't know the distance, the movements, and also the attack patterns etc. The worst thing was missing the target by throwing the ball too high, which I thought wouldn't be possible. The difficulty of taking it down was also an issue given the high defense stat, and finding the appropriate groups were hard. I am 5/10 on Articuno.
Moltres: In hindsight, this is the hardest to actually throw in my opinion. The furthest away from the ball and the long distance exposes you to the deflection attack even if you time to land the ball after an attack (as there could be double attacks). You're practically guaranteed to miss at least once a raid if you're not good with Zubats (and IMO this is even further than Zubat). I'm 9/15 on Moltres.
Zapdos: Being the last of the 3 team birds (so the experience from the previous two builds up) and in my opinion, the least erratic movements of the 3, I have had the best luck with this. My strategy was wait out the zigzag movements and wait for it to attack and land the ball on a great/excellent. My catch is 15/17 for Zapdos.
Lugia: Huge target, easy to get some sort of a hit, but the toughest thing about Lugia is getting any sort of ball bonus from your raid, given that it is unrealistic that 1 person can supply 20% of the damage for the maximum damage ball bonus. I'm 4/13 on Lugia.

I agree, except I have found Lugia rather easy to capture. I'm 9/14 on Lugia (and 9/11 if you don't count the first three). I also tried what I learned on a Tyranitar raid and captured it. It seems Tyranitar has gotten easier (closer), too?
Rushing to catch also seems to be the worst thing for my capture rate. If I calm down and wait for the attack, I have a much better chance for a catch. At the start there were some Articunos where I was missing with half my balls!
From my personal experience: Arti and Moltres were "quite" easy (catch rate >50%), but Lugia has been a pure nightmare... only caught 3 out of 10, the 3 I caught were the worst ones, sad (78, 78 and 80). Missed a 98% (got 11 balls, all with gold berries, 6 excellent, 3 great and he broke out of the ball directly on each try...).
