Entei IV question
My first Entei and he comes with 98% IV but sadly 14 at, still worth power up?

what game are you guys playing? cause it's not the same game i am playing. i have gotten every Field Research on the first day they're available (thursday). i don't know how many we've had total so far............. but my best IV one yet... EVER- is 87%. i've had several that were Floor IV's... the worst that they can possibly be. My Entei this week went right along with the others - 83%
I mean, research IVs vary from person to person. I've gotten some good ones as well as total turds. My first research Moltres was 96% and my first Entei yesterday was 69%, one point away from floor.
Odds are OP likely won't see a better Entei, however there's still a chance he could. To say "wait and see" isn't unsound advice. If nothing else he'll have some extra candies to power it up at the end of the month should he wait.
During Articuno research month I got a 96% and then waited two weeks and got a 98%. Also got quite a few 90+% of the other birds and Snorlax. My first Entei is 93%. The best Raikou I got is 89% I think. Anyway, the point still stands. Why spend resources on something when you could possibly get a better one with the four more Entei encounters and it will likely be outclassed in a few weeks anyway. But, Entei will still be fairly useful if they decide to invest in it either way.
Great IV's - well worth powering up.... but don't power it up unless you are in absolute and desperate need of a Fire Attacker today AND you can't take part in Moltres day tomorrow or you have the kind of Rare Candy hoard that 99.9% of PoGo players dream of (see: PokeAK's 1000+(!?!?!?!?) Rare Candies) and literally Millions of Stardust.
Tomorrow you might get 6+ good Moltres, all of which will be 5 levels higher than your Entei - possibly 10 levels above if you're in Sunny or Windy weather. When Gen 4 is released, Heatran might outclass Entei as a Fire Attacker.
And there is one more thing to consider - Entei might get its own "Entei Day", like the Moltres day tomorrow. On that day, there is a slight chance that Entei might get a better set of moves than it currently has. (what would be better? No idea, but the possibility is there)
So you've got an Entei worth powering up, even with Attack 14. But it might not be useful for you to power it up, if you don't have a large store of Rare Candies and Stardust, and if you already have decent Fire Attackers. It's an annoying conundrum, but honestly, it's one I hope to have by the end of the month too.
(I've got one with a Research Zapdos that was 96%, has Attack/Stamina 15, and I've got about 100 Zapdos candies thanks to Zapdos day and some massive luck with Pinaps, both for Research Projects and the Raid Boss Zapdos. I still haven't powered up that Zapdos, or any Zapdos from the Zapdos day. One day, I'll max it out... one day.)
