The End of Spoofers
I'm glad to hear that the latest android and apple updates won't allow GPS spoofing.
I'm wondering, however if those spoofers were banned or if they get to keep everything?

This is not the end.
All someone have to do is simply not update their device. Done!
Now lets get deeper into the bigger picture:
Unless Niantic sets up a version requirement that says devices cannot run the game unless it is on the IOS or Android version that have this GPS patch, nothing will be done.
Think about it, how many players out there are running the game on a version of Android older than Marshmallow? Bigger question, how many cellphone carriers actually provides Android updates to the latest version after the device is on the market for 18 months?
So now it becomes the bigger issue if Niantic put in a block to only allow users to run the game if they are running a version of Android or IOS with this fix and users have a phone that is on an old OS that the Carrier do not want to support anymore with updates, they will have to buy a new device or stop playing the game. They have already cut a ton of active players by not allowing the game to run on rooted Androids and jail broken IPhones, do they really want to eliminate more active players by locking out all players who don't have the latest device off the assembly line?
I had a mandatory update last Saturday.
I have noticed a distinct reduction of the activities of spoofers (both from my team and rival teams) over the past weekend. However, as of Monday, they were all back operating as normal - I don't know if this brief lapse in their activity was a coincidence or not.
