Caught some Larvitars, not a great deal, but that's a substantial increase from the nearly none that I usually catch. The extra candy has been nice, but I only caught two that were useful. One has top shelf IVs, but not elite, the other is a level 35 Pupitar with bad IVs that will be a nice trading chip.
End of a great Event
I'm going to miss Larvitar event part two-I mean the Johto festival. There were so many larvitar, it might has well been that (went from 70 candy to 186, and about a third weren't pinab'd, didnt get any from stops or gifts) how well did you guys make out with larvitar (and the assorted potentially relevant gen IV pre-evolutions from johto)

I don't need Larvitar candy so didn't really keep track of them or hunt actively for them. I pinapped any that I saw out of habit and because it's fun to have excess of such a valuable resource.
Didn't go in hoping for shinies but ended up getting Pineco and Sunkern so pretty good there. 40-50 Pineco quests completed but the shiny was among the first 20.
Did a lot of trading with event mons which helped greatly with my lucky dex progress, including a lucky 91iv Larvitar. Which probably doesn't get powered up if SD Tyra doesn't become available again. There were a bunch of good evolvables but nothing that could top the perfect Murkrow and Piloswine I already had.
I'm also happy with the Larvitar harvest. Here in Bangkok I had seen maybe 3 wild spawn Ltars since Gen 2 launched (excluding events) and now we get that many or more each day, even with casual play. I have traded (with my son) most of the ones I caught which is a great thing for the extra candy and as one (level 20) became 100% and Lucky and 2 others became 91%. Unfortunately no weather boost as every day is either cloudy or rainy now.
I didn't get out nearly as much as I wish I had (I cannot stand crazy humidity...) but it's been great overall. Semi-reliable Larvitar spawns are always welcome, boatloads of Houndour and Snubbull candy was great. Not nearly as many Sunkern as expected given how seemingly 2/3 of the research tasks involved catching 3 of them. Ho-Oh R3 was a pleasant surprise, I definitely made up for sitting out most of the T5 raids as of late. Did 12(!) Ho-Oh raids yesterday with mine and my fiancee's account to try and get her a shiny, had no such luck. Managed to catch 23/24 between the two accounts. None of the new shinies for either of us, though Saturday she finally found a shiny Roselia (we had obligations that kept us from playing during the Dortmund event, thus no shiny flowers that weekend).
A fun event that I wish was going on for a few more days. Now to try and bag a shiny Wingull or two and get ready for the inevitable Moltres Day.
Yeah, all those sunkern tasks were a bit of a nuisance (there were 3 stops that literally were the catch 3 task the whole week). Nice work getting all those ho-oh, no one around here was interested in raiding ho-oh (but I already got a shiny from last time it was around, first ho-oh raid I did). I wonder what they'll do in winter, if they'll have a hoenn event in December people with a lot of snow probably wont be able to play, so I wonder If they'll hold off on one for a while
I don't think we'll see a Hoenn event for a while, the Kanto and Johto ones were due to special research releases. Although now that I think about it, Mew and Celebi were roughly 4-5 months apart and that does put us in the middle of winter... Anything could happen I guess. We'll likely see some winter event first, featuring enhanced ice-type spawns, Delibird's return, and Santa hat Pikachu again.
Well... f*ck.
I couldn't do the Larvitar CD and I saw 0 wild Larvitars during this event... I am in dire need of candy to power up my only SD TTar and maybe a second dark one, not to mention to evolve my shiny Larv. My raid group is less and less motivated to raid TTars: last time we were only 2 and couldn't duo it. I got a Larvitar quest though, hard as f*ck but I'll get it eventually.
I caught a wild Blissey, CP2800+ though. I guess that's a consolation :D
There's still about 23 hours left of the event.
Anyway, I haven't focused that much on Larvitar. Had 1300+ candies left after the community day so I wasn't in any need to get more. Would have been nice to find a great IV one, but I have a few decent Tyranitar already.
Would however gladly trade more than half of my Tyra candy for a shiny Ho-oh. I'm now at 39 raids without a shiny :(
