That's tough. I think I'd roll the dice with the 98% one. If he gets one of those great specialized movesets or a good Vape moveset he's ready to roll. The 100% is in a place where you can have your trophy whether you rush to raise him or not as an Espeon who I find to be a little less useful than some other eevolutions with certain movesets. But it's a great position to be in and there is no wrong answer. Please let us know what you get.

Eevee dilemma
98% 744cp
100% 72cp
So if you didn't read my post earlier I was trying to decide if It was worth powering up a 100 iv 72cp Eevee and got a lot of great feedback and most likely was gonna make it espeon since I still haven't done or got my gen2 eeveelutions yet. But today I stumbled upon a 744cp 98% iv Eevee so now I'm not exactly sure which one I'd rather do the name trick on. If I were to do it on my 100iv one it would be awhile before I could fully max it out since I'm not exactly swimming in stardust. Let me know what you guys think.

Yeah if anything I'll keep the 100 iv one as a trophy and possibly future evolution if I have the dust to spare on it. Would I be better off evolving it to espeon to guarantee a decent mon or should I legit roll the dice and hope for a vape? I know if I did get a vape it would easily be 2100+ just not sure if it's worth to risk it
I mean there's risk in everything. Besides Vape good moveset Jolts and Flareon are the best of their types and highly useful in the current meta. Any way you go the odds are stacked against you with movesets but imo a good moveset Jolt or Flareon is more useful to me than Espeon and can immediately get used as is. However Espeon is great too. Plus he's new and shiny. No matter what you do it's a pure roll of the dice and I wish you luck. No wrong move really
the higher cp one no question - i'd dump the 72cp one perfect iv's or no as it'll take far too much to get it to 30.
hold onto it if you must, eevee candy isn;t hard to come by but i doubt there is even a fraction of a % difference in performance between 98 and 100% iv's at 30
edit - why not compromise ? evolve the low cp one randomly, if you get a good moveset power it up to 1200ish for prestiging gyms. i'd still not waste your renaming trick on something so low as the 98% iv one would be a better option.
Reading your post I guess you go for Espeon right?
If that's true, do it like this:
Evolve the 100 % one with the name trick into an Espeon. If you get one of the following:
1- Confusion/Future sight.
2- Confusion/Psybeam.
You just got a perfect Esperon for attacking or defending gyms. There's just left to power up him to the max. No hurries just keep doing it when you can and will eventually reach the max.
If you dont get one of those moves then you can or power up him anyway (if you don't care so much about the perfect move set) or another option:
Choose the 98% one as a buddy and walk 10 km with him. When done evolve him during the day so it will turn an Espeon. If you got a nice move set congratulations if you got another not satisfactory one bad luck man keep going.
That's it if you go just for an Espeon.
