Is DT/O worth the risk and investment?
I just evolved my second dragonite and it got the same moveset as my first: DT/Hu. I know that it is a good moveset and I am grateful both moves benefit from STAB,but quite frankly, I was hoping for DT/O. I feel like a dragonite with DT/O is so much better at defending than any other moveset.
I maxed out my first one, but I'm not sure I feel like doing the same for my new one. They are both 95 and 93 Ivs respectively.
Should I nevertheless power up this new one, or start grinding to evolve a new 88% iv dratini? Dratinis never spawn here, but I get a good amount of candies from eggs.
In your experience, for attack while dodging only charge moves, is hurricane a close second, or is outrage in a league of its own?

I would rather fight against a DT/O instead of a DT/H. Outrage is very predictable and for that reason, I would rather get hit by two easy-to-dodge moves instead of a fast move that fires off less often.
I don't have a DT/H but I have a DT/O and it is great on offense, although a long state of being vulnerable kind of blows.
With that being said, I don't think DT/O is in a league of its own and I think the DT/H may be worth powering up.
What happens if you save up for another, re-roll and don't get Dt/O (83% chance of this happening). Even a DT/H would be awesome, but then you would have three.
The short cooldown on hurricane is something that I think people overlook (from an offensive standpoint) due to the fact that hurricane requires twice as much energy as outrage.
For defending Outrage hits hard and often and unexpected. Even if the attacking trainer dodges Outrage it can still lock them into the faint/revive bug (due to lag) until the attacking pokemon dies or forces the trainer to switch out the attacking pokemon. Its also great for attacking too.
Hurricane is not so much good for defending though.
I tried for that moveset so many times on those pokes! I eventually got it on a 100% exegg. Sure enough niantic decided to change the number of bars and power at will. So pissed that can happen. It makes it difficult to justify spending stardust when they can change how good a pokemon is with a flip of a switch
I hatched my second 100% Dratini yesterday. Last night it became my second 100% DT/Hyperbeam Dragonite.....It will go with my two other maxed DB/DC ones and my two DT/Hurricane ones. All will be above 3300. I feel like they all crush everything at that strength or even near it. Yeah I wish some were DT/O but dratini seem rare enough from eggs now a days that I'm fine with maxing these too. They still work really well for attacking even if others are better.
