DT/Hu Dragonite

After 5 SW Dragonites I finally got A DT Dragonite. Does anyone have any experience with this moveset? Does it "hit like a train" like the DT/O?
91% IV attacker. Should I power him up or try for the DT/O (another 6 months of grinding). Thanks

I prefer it to DT/O. Mine's powered up to level 36.5. It hits like a train and it hits fast.

But it's a matter of personal preference. Save up for a better Dragonite. Power up the DT/H. Up to you.

You can save for 6 months and get SW / HB or other undesirable sets people complain about. Power up the DT / H and forego the future gamble

I suggest you try it in a gym, and then decide if you like it or not, then you will know what to do.
EDIT: I remember fighting one with your moveset. It did hit me, but still my ice attackers did their job, so there's always a cure on any mon regardless moveset etc.

I suspect the Dragonite era in the gyms is coming to an end. It's not a preferred defender, just sitting there because of super-CP. Go for the Dragonite you like the best for attacking, any opponent will take down your Dragonite, no matter the moveset, if the want.

This isn't true at all. I'm a frequent gym attackers and only snorlax and blissey are better defenders than DT dragonite based on my experience. DT dragonites hit hard on defense and if you failed to dodge its charged move, although very unlikely, then RIP to your mon. Also remember the annoying glitch in gym battles now, even if you managed to dodge its charged move, you might glitch as if your mon didn't dodge and die, thanks to dragonite's super atk stats, the attacking mon might not have enough hp to survive the glitch. In any case, DT dragonites are great at defending too, the third best mon for defending after blissey and snorlax. Also note that lapras, known as the dragon slayer before its cp nerfs, the hardest counter for dragonites, isn't good at all anymore. In my area lvl 10 gyms might have 6-8 dragonites and it's really hard to kill dragonites without dragonites. Rhydons, Gyarados, and Tyrants are solely for placement purpose as they have many counters, but DT dragonites don't really have hard counter now. So if you have your snorlaxes and blisseys already occupied in gyms, DT dragonites are your next best choice of defenders.

LOL look at these gyarados and tyranitar fanboys who downvoted my comment. If you disagree that dragonite with DT is the third best defender after blissey and snorlax, state your reasonings haha

I like using Hu on offense and dislike fighting against it. It is much less energy-efficient than O (or even HB); but I find it much more difficult to dodge. On offense, it leaves you less vulnerable.

I love my Hurricane I have two powered up and I use them for attack/defence. I don't have DT/O and most ppl prefer that over Hurricane but I think it's close

Will probably wont be any big difference unless you are fighting a dragon type so outrage deals extra damage

HU is fast cast so let you fill up bar again faster and do extra hits than using 2x outrage

In the end you will probably use only 2 outrages in a battle or 2 hurricanes, currently what matter for dragonite is his quick attack, having dragon tail is what will make him hit like a truck honestly

I wont risk 6 months of grinding for the chance of a sw/hy dragonite, i would power him up until i feel he is fine

Well, it is absolutely worth powering up, because you can use it as both a defender and an attacker. BUT, I prefer Outrage over Hurricane for two reasons: SE damage into Dragonite and neutral vs Rhydon and Tyra whereas Hurricane is one edge less effective in those matchups. Also O is way more energy efficient. That 3rd Outrage after you generated 150 energy might safe your ass and end that battle early enough to avoid the Stone Edge from Rhydon or Tyranitar

Players who dodge everything generally get better results with DT/H than DT/O due to its faster and less frequent charge move. They have different type effectiveness. DT/H is the best option in the game against a Grass charge Exeguttor, but is not as good against Dragonite as DT/O.
