Dratini evolve question
Dragonite is the only non-regional, non baby Pokemon missing from my gen 1 podex. Thanks to Pinap berries and catching more Dratini since gen 2 release than I had in all the time previously (it amounts to 3 or 4). They seem to be a little more common.
I finally have 131 candies, unfortunately my only two evolve candidates are a 89 IV, 383 CP and a 84 IV, 448 IV.
I know what my advice would be to anyone else, excercise patience, you don't have enough candies to power up that Dragonite anyways, but ugh, I really wanna do it.
Talk me into or out of it.

Thanks guys, I'll wait as hard as it is! Maybe Dratini seemingly being more common around here since Gen 2 hit, as well as the Pinap berry effect, and of course may get lucky and hatch a better one.
Funny story on how brutal this experience has been for me. The Halloween event ended earlier than anticipated, hatched a 10k within an hour after it ended, guess what I hatched? That 84 Dratini, was so mad!
Out of the last 8 10kms I've hatched since the release of gen 2, 3/8 have been Dratinis. There was another question within the last 24 hours and on that thread I remember a number of replies stating other individuals had also hatched a greater proportion of Dratinis recently. I'm not saying there is a correlation, but if you seem to obtain 10k's often enough, it may be worth waiting.
If I were in your shoes, I (personally) would give it one month (until, say, the end of march?) and see if I hatch any Dratinis. If I hatch, say 2, then I would argue that I may hatch more, sooner than later, with the hopes of better ivs.
If you're waiting for a better IV dratini, the only reason I would want a better one (e.g. 93 or 96%) would to have one with aesthetically looking numbers lol.
Lastly I similarly had more candies than necessary to evolve and was hoarding them for the longest time for a 91%+ iv. Your boy found one and rolled out a SW/HB ⛈? Idk if it was worth the wait. Just something to keep in mind! Although SW is much better due to this recent rebalance..
I can't blame you for wanting to complete the pokedex. If it were me, I would evolve the 89% and keep putting candies to it until you find a better one (who knows when that will be). For the second Dragonite, be more patient and wait on the candy.
Edit: If you have pending 10k eggs hatch them first just in case.
Clarnzz - TALK YOU IN TO IT! Sometimes you must divorce rational thought from emotion - and go with emotion. DO IT! Evolve it. Get that Dragonite and have fun with it! If you do not, you will not sleep well at night. Been there, done that.
I started playing July 8, a couple of days after the game came out. In all that time, playing most every day, I encountered only 2 Dratini and 1 Dragonair (and captured all three) . I started walking the Dragonair as my buddy. I have now walked it 330 km. During the Valentines Day double candy event, I had received and was incubating a 10k egg. On the LAST day of the event, ONLY 30 minutes before the expiration of the event, I arrived early at a meeting I was to attend. I had about another 1.5 kilometer to go to hatch my egg. Good things can come of 10k eggs. So, in the next 10 minutes, I walked/ran that egg. It hatched - a Dratini. But best of all, double candy - 51! (51 candies equals 255 kilometers.) That put me to 124 candies, one candy shy of the 125 that I needed to evolve my best dratini (top tier, attack best move, top subdvision, but only CP 481) to a Dragonite. Soon as I got the remaining candy, I evolved that Dratini all the way to a Dragonite. Of the down side, Niantic had just changed the moves sets for Dragonite, but I got Dragon Tail + Outrage, which is pretty good. I continue to walk the Dragonair and am powering up the Dragonite as I can and using it as I go along. I can get about a candy a day. Hoping for another double candy event. Bottom line - DO IT!
Please let me know what you decide!
