Dragz with DB/DC

I was hoping to get a better Dragonite with this moveset but it's no longer available and I'm stuck with one with only 40% IV. I would have to use 80 out of my 120 candies I've spent all of pokemon go earning to max him.
Should I?

DB-DC is the straight business for attacking. Count me as one of the people who believe Dragonite's new movesets constitute a nerf to his overall ability as a gym sweeper.

IF you don't want to use up your candies on this beast you can always wait for trading. Many guys like myself have extra DB-DC we would be willing to trade. I've got many I never use actually

The video basically shows that DT-OR provides the highest cycle DPS of any moveset for Dragonite; however, the final battle against Snorlax illustrates, quite clearly I think, that DB-DC is still a better sweeper (for taking out multiple pokemon because of effective dodging).

Thank you so much for posting that. I made my very first Dragonite 2 weeks before the update and got DB/DC. He is 89% iv and a beast. When this update came out I was like damn I am level 30 and just got my first Dragonite now I gotta start over? This helps a ton and puts a definitive answer to about 6 threads on here since the update. Best of luck

Congrats dude, DB-DC rocks. May be slightly less "tank and spank" DPS, but it's so much more versatile against a wide variety of defenders and movesets. You're going to have a tougher time against Body Slam Snorlax using Outrage, and even Dragon Tail for that matter.

Slightly less? The tank and spank DPS of DT/OR is way ahead of DB/DC. Unless you're assuming DC/DB on a Mewtwo? :S

It's ok guys, a new moveset came in that's stronger than the old one.... everything's gonna be alright.

and some people only got SW/HB on their dragonites...

dude, I saved up so many Dratini to evolve for Gen2 thinking Dragon Tail might be learned by new Dragonites, and I got one with DT-OR out of maybe 9-10 evolves ... like 5 or 6 SW/HB it's a disgrace lol.

Yes, buff him up. Moves > IVs.

Which brings back a question I had asked earlier...

So you all are saying that I should use the stacked tini candies I have to power up a 35iv DB/DC nite over evolving higher iv tinis into (hopefully) DT/OR just based on the move sets?

This seems like a radical idea to me, but am keeping and open mind and that video definitely opened my eyes.

How about powering up a 89iv DB/DP vs. DT/OR? WOuld it be better to go with DB/DP or is DT/OR now second place or first for those without DB/DC?
