Dragonite vs Snorlax

Hi Community,

I have a 62% IV Dragonite with dragon breath and dragon claw and a 93% Snorlax with lick body slam.

I have no candies for both. I need an attacker for Gyms. Want to walk and make candies, but dont know which pokemon to power up.

Please Help!!!

I prefer Dragonite for attaking. Faster, does more damages. And you have optimal attacking moveset.

But I wouldn't invest a lot of dust in it. What is CP at the moment?

The Snorlax would make a perfect defender. As an attacker you'd probably slowly wear your opponent down but the Dragonite would be better.

Lick is a terrible defensive move, please don't spread misinformation.

How exactly it is "terrible"? It is not as good as Headbutt, but terrible?

Any move that has 5 base damage is terrible for defending. So saying that it's "perfect for defending" is bullcrap.

It's not perfect but it's not bad. Lick has high EPS. I have a Snorlax with lick / body slam and it's been in a gym for almost two weeks straight now, which in NYC is a miracle, in fact its a record for me. Also one of the best ways to quickly take down a Snorlax is Exeggutor with Solar Beam and lick defends well against Exeggutor and also Slowbro too.

Still better than a Snorlax with hyperbeam or earthquake as hyperbeam is so easy to dodge and earthquake doesn't get STAB and bodyslam on the other hand is one of that hardest moves to dodge.

Even so any high CP Snorlax will be a good defender just because of it's high defense and stamina stats.

So in your opinion, Lick / Body Slam is a better defender than Zen Headbutt / Hyper Beam? Nice...

First attack is more important than charged one for defending and Zen>>>>Lick

DEFINITELY the Dragonite for offense. Snorlax is a lot slower and requires a lot more potions.

Comparing base attack stats Dragonite will be your better option as he has 250 vs Snorlax's 180.

i like DB/DC for offense.
but dont want up a 62%IV -_-
i attak with a lvl 24dragonite db/dc (i am lvl 34) no need more^^
i kill 10tower 2K+ alone
Walk with Snorlax! upgrde him only if you have all the candy.
never start upgrade 1 pokemon if you dont have all the candy. imagine you found better

if you want a great pokemon for gyms take a vaporeon, you can kill 3 or 4 pokemon with him.
