Dragonite vs. Machamp as Generalist

Who do you think is better in going through multiple defenders at any gym? Dragon Tail / Outrage vs. Counter / Dynamic Punch. I feel like Outrage's long cool down really suffers vs. 3-bar charge moves like Body Slam, Aqual Tail, Crunch, Twister etc. Machamp shines vs. Blissey, Snorlax. The most important advantage for Dragonite is that it's best for Rhydon/Gyarados transitions which no other generalist can cover as effective and efficiently. There will be a lot of Dragonite/Tyranitar transitions in the future, and it's pretty much a toss up with Machamp and Dragonite as one is super effective against one but not the other.

Edit: I prioritize time and have a few DB/DC Nites. I just want to go through a level 7+ gym as quickly as possible with good revive/potion efficiency.

My 89 IV DB/DC will handle anything in this game. (Puff the magick dragon)

Same, but higher IV. Really want a DT nite though for gameplay comparison.

Machamp won't have the same flexibility as dragonite

Nice man, love having DB/DC. He is my first and only Dnite evolve ever (I am level 30), and I did it a few months before Gen 2. You are basically getting the speed and efficiency of watergun in a dragon type move which is just badass

It's been my go to attacker for months, I evolved my 3rd nite after the Valentine's event gave me enough candy only to have new moves drop in gen 2 release -_-

I tried my best to like DT, it's just not gonna happen. I'm switching back to DB as my main attacker. I've been hit way too many times trying to squeeze in a DT being impatient. There are DT lovers out there, definitely not me.

I do not have that machamp mine is C/CC and I never really use it. My Dragontail Outrage Dragonite is my go to general attacker. I use the charge move sparingly. Only when I'm sure I won't be hit but sometimes I just let her rip and all out attack and use charge moves as soon as its filled. I love it. It is my favorite. I also have a Dragonbreath dragonclaw Dragonite for backup. I just caught a Lick Hyperbeam lax that I am going to try out today.

Dragonite is the best attacker IMO. Rarely i use anything more than my two pets: DB/DC 93.3% and DB/DP 91.1%, both 3200+.

What defenders are you speaking of?
DT or DB vs. Gyarados, Vaporeon, Dragonite, and Exeggutor

C/CC or DP vs. Blissey, Snorlax, Tyranitar, and Rhydon

I can't imagine Machamp being a good generalist.

There are six, SIX types that resist Machamp's attacks, some of which will show up in gyms. There are only two types that resist Dragon, and you don't see Fairy or Steel in gyms hardly ever. Also Dragonite just has way more stats than Machamp.

Once Tyranitar becomes more common, Machamp will be relegated to a niche specialist against defensive Tyranitars. T-Rex with Bite is a better counter against Blissey and Snorlax because of key resistances to Psychic and Normal attacks.

Machamp is fun, but he's not nearly as useful as meta-defining sweepers like Dragonite and Tyranitar.
