Dragonite as a prestiger?
Does anyone have a low level Dragonite with a good moveset that they use as a prestiger? I'm curious if a DT/OR Dragonite at around 1000-1200cp would be useful.
Here's the background story:
Today I was excited to find my 2nd ever wild dragonite (first since last August), but he turned out to be 184cp.
The good news is that he has DT/Outrage. The bad news is he has 45% IV.
I live close to a bayou that spawns a lot of Dratini, and I've hatched a ton, so I'm pretty set with Dragonite. And, I have almost 150 candy saved up.
So here's my question...
If candy isn't an issue, would this Dragonite be valuable as a presiger if I powered him up to around 1200cp? It would take around 25 candy, which I don't mind using. Keep in mind, I realize his IVs are not good, but it is very, very unlikely that I end up with a high IV dragonite that is also this low level. I have plenty of high IV, high CP dragonites for gym defense (and attack).
I have a 3300cp Dragonite with DT/OR, and he is an absolute BEAST on attack. Substantially better than my DB/DC Dragonite. All of my Dragonites are over 2000cp, and since I love this moveset I'm tempted to add a prestiger. But would he be any good?

With prestigers, it's best to have type advantages instead of generalists. However, if you do choose a generalist, Dragonite is a poor choice, and ever since the move buffs made Pound not stand out as much as it used to, there are better generalists than Wigglytuff.
A good list of generalist prestigers is at https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/5wfhbw/analysis_generalist_prestiger_tier_list/ . The 2nd ranked SW/SA Skarmory is one of my favorite prestigers. It works especially well against Snorlax.
It's easy to get impatient and try to squeeze an extra DT in even when you know you can't. Trying to prestige with a 1200... even with dodging, the damage taken would accumulate quick with not many DTs thrown out.
I'm sure a lot of folks on here(including me) have tried using dragonites, snorlax, etc to prestige. They just can't compete with tangelas, wigglys, etc.
I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that my 1400CP DT/H and DT/O Dragonites are great prestigers against 2800+ Snorlaxes. They are not as fast as the usual fighting types but they can dish out the damage and take a few missed dodges without fainting. So for the OP's question, 25 candies is not alot of sacrifice to make to test this out for yourself.
In a prestiger, you are looking for a mon who hits above his CP level. This typically involves a combination of typing advantages, a good moveset, and a low attack in relation to defense/stamina. Dragon type attacks are not SE against any common defenders except Dragonite, which is likely to also have super effective in defender attacks, and it has a high attack in relation to defense/stamina. Both of these are bad for prestiging. The main thing it has going for it is a good moveset, which is not enough to surpass other prestigers.
I think the real question is: what will you do with him if you don't power him up? Leave him at 184 CP as a trophy? Transfer him to the professor for one Dratini candy? He's a wild-caught Dragonite with a great moveset, so you might as well put him to use somehow. If it were me, he'd definitely have a place on my prestige team, for fun and variety if nothing else.
