Dragonite with DB/DP for Defense?
Hello guys. As i see, Dragonites with DB/DP moveset are class B for defense. How bad they are to put into a gym? i have a 2998cp/91.1% one.

As we can see here, DB/DC is the third better moveset to attack (first DB/HB and second DB/DP). But here on Gamepress they rank DB/DC as the better and DB/HB the third. Why this difference?
That sheet may be missing something to do with STAB, but ignoring that the reason HB is weaker when attacking is because it results in you being unable to do anything for so long after. You can't dodge the enemy charge attack, so unless HB kills it you're going to take a lot of unnecessary damage.
All 3 are probably very close in damage-per-second.
On defense, I concur with the other response that Dragonite's moveset doesn't matter. Either they have a Lapras that will wreck him, or they don't and he'll wreck (since I doubt a 1200 dewgong is beating a 3000 Dragonite). He's going to be the head honcho of the gym - so if they get to him they're taking it down even if he has Steel Wing instead of DB.
Don't take those spreadsheets TOO seriously. There are things that can't be accounted for with math, there are multiple well respected lists/sheets with conflicting data.
Use them as a rough reference. Trying to say one moveset is exactly so many percent better than another is just not going to be correct. Even the creators of the sheets know that.
I appreciate their work but people have become way too reliant on those numbers.
Sure. The DB/DP moveset looks better than they rank it on spreed (defense). DP is the best charge move to defense and DB is the best quick move to attack...this makes this moveset looks very usual for attack and defense (only 0.5% below DB/DC...so why class B? =/).
Thanks guys and srry about my english.
Any Dragonite is a good gym defender cuz of its high CP imo. I save top 2 Dragonites and rest are gym defender. Level 10 gyms are very common with full of 3000CP+ Dragonites in them where I live. Some are separated by less than 10 CP. My recommendation is to power up as much as you can/like, then, put it in a gym and let the lower cp mon at that gym to battle.
