Dragon tail/Hurricane

Hey, I just evolved my first dratini to dragonite. It's 95 IV and the moveset is dragon tail/hurricane. I'm happy that they both get stab, but a little bummed that I didn't get outrage, since it requires less energy for the same damage and is the same type as dragon tail.
I have a 93 IV dratini on hold, so I was wondering if I should grind 125 candies through dratini's increased hatch rate to try and get the A moveset, or is DT/H good enough to invest in and bring to level 34,5; my current max?

It's great. This guy does several side by side battles. There is like a half second difference.

And you'll notice that DB-DC has the most remaining HP.

Hashtag underrated.

On dodge everything against ZH/BS Snorlax, DB/DC took the longest BUT, it had more than twice the amount of HP left compared to DT/O and DT/Hu. I'll trade a few seconds for the extra HP so I can take on the next mon and save on revives/pots.

On dodge only charged moves I'm surprised that the DB/DC Nite finished off Chansey the quickest and has the same remaining HP as the DT/O.

DB/DC should be an A ranking moveset IMO.

On attack, Dragon Tail/Hurricane is barely lower in dps than Dragon Tail/Outrage. As someone who has 5 Dragonite (including a 100%) ALL with Steel Wing/Hyper Beam, I'd feel blessed to get anything with Dragon Tail.

I'm also have Dragonite with this moveset but I'm really disappointed. hurricane is not that great and dragon tail is too slow even though it did a lot of dmg but in exchange of a lot of hp loss. I would say this dragon tail move is like a blood magic but still better than steel wing.

Sadly steel wing is supossed to be coverage against Ice and Fairy, however, the difference in DPS between the moves and the miserable 25% SE bonus are not enough to make this moveset good enough.

If you have realistic expectation of getting enough candies to evolve another one, then sure grind away. Having said that it's still a dragonite and it's the second best moveset so it's not a bad one. The advantage of having 2 dragon types is that they are largely unresisted, except by steel and fairy, while flying is resisted by rock and electric, the only relevant one of those types is rock, because you'll find more rhydons in gyms than you'll find steel, fairy and electric types summed together, so yeah, DT/O is the better moveset... however it's nor really that much better than DT/H at least offensively. Defensively however even if they are still 1st and 2nd best moveset, they are much further apart because outrage is a 2 bar move and can be used more often by the AI.

For what it's worth, most people won't really use their Dragonites against Rhydon for fear of Stone Edge, so that mitigates the overall importantce of that particular resistance for Hurricane.

Ultimately, for attacking Hurricane is pretty comparable to DT/O and you won't spend as much time stuck in cooldown using charge moves. I think it's a very good moveset, both for attack and defense - despite being further behind DT/O on defense than attacking.

Something you didn't say it the levels of these mons. Are they both hatches? Is one a higher level wild catch?

I ended up getting this moveset as well with my most recently evolved Dragonite. I ultimately wanted a Dragonite with Dragon Tail due to not having one yet and I figured I had a 50% chance of evolving one anyway; I had gotten Steel Wing and Hyper Beam with the last Dragonite that I evolved. Overall I can't complain, I'm just glad that I didn't end up getting screwed over with the IV's (93%, 14/15/13) and the CP that she had started out with as a Dratini (676). She seems to counter Blissey, Snorlax and Vaporeon fairly well. I haven't gotten the chance to try her out for defense though, but even though Dragon Tail and Outrage may be the ideal moveset for attacking as well as defense, it seems like overall you can't go wrong with either one. Even though Hurricane is a one bar move as opposed to a two bar, its duration helps with dodging and it's apparently also the most difficult to dodge when it comes to defense. I'm also waiting to see if Hurricane ends up getting buffed and/or changed to a different bar move with the next gym rebalance.
