Dragon Claw is underrated

I know there isn't anyone out there who thinks D.C. is not one of the best moves in the game... My point is, SW/DC should be given more credit. I keep seeing DB/DP and DB/HB ranked above Sw/DC for attacking. My Sw/D.C. Consistently out performs my DB/Dp, even against vaporeon.
I claim Dragonites attack ranking should be
DB/DC
SW/DC
DB/DP
Etc...

Has anyone else found this to be true?

My top 4 list would look something like this:
DB/DC
DB/DP
SW/OR
SW/DC

Although I have never actually tried DB/DP.

I don't have a SW/OR to try, but I took on a rhydon and 2 strong vaporeons this weekend with my dragonites. I could consistently take down all three with sw/dc and struggled with db/dp. So I tried against blissey and got the same results with claw beating out pulse despite the weaker quick attack

I hate HB on dragonites. Not even sure why it's available for Dnites. Too slow on offense for a mon that's not tanky. On defense it's too easy to dodge. And No STAB. I cringe when I evolve an HB nite. DC and OR fits the mon's style much better

I have a lvl 30 SW/DC but its my only nite so i cant personally compare it.

Im sure its atleast abit better than most make out though.

DB > DT > SW

Regardless of charge move? Do you think a db/hb would do better than a sw/dc?

By the raw numbers, Dragon Tail + Outrage is the best attacking Dragonite.

Dragontail generates more Energy Per second than Dragon breath

Dragontail generates more damage per second than Dragon breath.

When you do both of these things, you are a better damaging move...

HOWEVER, the fact that dragon breath is quicker makes it easier to dodge.

But a lot of depends on what you are attacking.
If you can fit only 2 DB or 1 DT. 1 DT wins
If you can fit 4 DB or 2 DT. 2 DT Wins
If you can fit 3(or4) DB and 1 DT. DB wins

Any times 2 moves sometimes beat each other than they are for me the same tier.

Same thing happens with Dragon Pulse and Dragon Claw. Generally DC wins a little. But if you have 150 energy to spend. 3 DP > 4 DC.

Outrage > Pulse. However, if you are at the 3 DB vs 1 DT stage, it's not enough better to come out ahead.

So for me: A moves
DB & DC
DB & DP
DT & DO

But there are times when DT/DO is #1 or DB/DP is #1 all depending on the defender and the exact dodge windows and how many charge moves you have to fire to kill it

I don't disagree that's what the numbers say, but they don't tell the entire story. Dragon claws ability to fit between quick moves and after charge moves w/o taking any damage makes up for sw. Those quick attacks that you don't get to dodge on cd of OR or DP add up to make them less efficient.

Agreed. Just looking at raw damage numbers without taking damage taken into consideration is not a good indication of how good a mon's moveset is. For example, Mike Tyson's punches has serious damage numbers but he also took a lot of beating especially in post jail years. He needed to end fights in early rounds with a KO because if he went the distance his chances of winning diminished. Muhammad Ali didn't have the strongest punches but he floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee and wore down his opponent thus becoming the GOAT. Same thing with Floyd Mayweather. DT/O = Mike Tyson. DB/DC = Muhammad Ali/Floyd Mayweather. And who was the Greatest?

SW/DC is good for both actually. In defense it can spam 4 DC in a row like BS Snorlaxes.

SW + DC got a nice buff just by virtue of gym mechanics and energy gain. As you said, defense AI can just spam it almost the whole battle.

Lol why is everyone so fixated on Defensive movesets for any non Blissey or Snorlax defender? DC might be slightly annoying because its a multi bar charge move, but by the time I finish spamming Dragon Breath or Frost Breath it seldom gets one off. Most gym attackers are experienced enough to know when to dodge the old charge moves. The only thing that matters for Dragonite, Gyarados, Vaporeon, and Rhydon are it's CP if you're going to use it as a gym defender in my opinion.
