Today I heard people saying that damage per energy is more important then damage per second, what would make discharge, aqua tail and leaf blade better than thunder, HP and SoB, I don't know, but used to think dps can be more important. What is more important?
Vaporeons aqua tail and hydro pump are almost equal, difference is so small that it wont matter.
Aqua Tail is easier to use
- you can spam it more often, less dmg wasted if next aqua tail kills the enemy.
- Quicker animation time helps you to dodge.
In defense i would go for aqua tail.
Thou hydro pump isnt bad charge move, its not hyper beam, sometimes it can actually hit.
(Hyper beam still way too easy to dodge, even if you are half a sleep....and monkey)
It's a balance of both. Aquatail and Leaf Blade may have more DPE but when you calculate how much DPS over time you get when doing a charge move + however many quick moves to charge, Hydropump and Solar Beam still end up being the stronger move. In other cases, however, Dynamic Punch/Avalanche/Wild Charge/Sludge Bomb all provide more to your average DPS than the higher DPS moves Close Combat/Blizzard/Zap Cannon/Gunk Shot
Most important is, how much damage it deals combined with your fast attack. My metrics for estimating charged moves assumes an average fast attack (10 dps, 10 eps) and i call it "time adjusted dpe", dpe_ta
Explaination: This metrics is still damage / energy, but considers, that during you wait for your charged attack, your quick attack does not deal damage and your quick attack does not collect energy:
dpe_ta = [Damage- (10 dps * time)] / [Energy+ (10 eps * time)]
with Damage, Energy, Time: properties of your charged attack.
this metrics is easy to use on a sheet and there, solar beam is leader, twister is the loser, so it is reasonable.
