Donphan Solo Anchor

I'm powering up 3 Kyogres to lvl 30 in order to solo Donphan without weather boost, but I will defenetly need one maybe two more pokemons in order to not faint out.

Which one would you guys choose?

Since I don't have candies for another Kyogre, I was thinking maybe FP venusaur or Sceptile.
PokeBattler shows Sceptile is 6 seconds slower at lvl 30 (198,7 to 192), but I feel like 3 bars is a must for an anchor.
Neither of them have Breakpoints past lvl 30, so I would power them up to that lvl.

Maybe powering up 1 Venusaur and 1 Sceptile for slots 4 and 5 respectively would be the optimal solution, what do you think?

Depends on boss's charge move. If it's Earthquake or Heavy Slam I would choose Gyarados. If it's Play Rough maybe FP Venusaur could be a good one because of the Fairy resistance. But I have neither had a FP Venusaur nor raid against PR Donphan so not that sure.

So, overall, in a neutral scenario like partly cloudy, you would vote for Gyarados? I feel like with a 1 bar charge move I could lose too much energy.

Two out of three chances Gyarados would resist Donphan's charge move. In those cases Gyarados could use 3 to 5 Hydro Pump and you can choose to dodge to squeeze a HP or not dodge just to rush depends on the situation.

Got it! I think 3 Kyogres and 1 Gyarados would be enough to solo EQ or HS Donphan, so I could maybe add a Venusaur on the 5th slot for PR variant.

Could do. Try not to raid Donphan in Cloudy weather unless you are a fearless trainer lol.

Actually with Earthquake Donphan I would use just 1 or 2 Kyogre but more Gyarados. Since double resistance to Ground, the charge move helps more to gain energy without much damage.

Kyogre and level 40 Gyarados are the only ones ahead of time when it’s not sunny. If you’ve got Kyogre put them in before Gyarados. Fainting is never a problem against Donphan, DPS is the problem.

It really depends on how high you can power up your Pokemon. The only ones with viable DPS in neutral weather are Kyogre and 15 attack level 40 Gyarados.

Also, I would guess that fainting won't be a huge issue with 3 Kyogres. Just pick 3 of any that you've mentioned, as long as they're close to level 35 or higher. The higher the better.

If tucas's Kyogre are all lv 30, then Att 15 lv 40 Gyarados can do same DPS as his Kyogre with more TDO if it's not PR, since Kyogre has ia Breakpoint at lv 32.5 assuming Att 15 to make a difference.

TIL I've soloed Donphan without a single viable attacker. Had no idea there was a breakpoint for only 15a Gary.

Haha excellent! Did you have clear or rainy weather? Those weathers allow for a lot more creativity with your grass/water counters.

No weatherboost, unique attackers, 13a Gary, Exeggutor, HP Salamence, FP Venusaur, Sceptile, Victreebel. Everything maxed except Venusaur at 35. I used the 180s trick and the boss had earthquake which let me use switching in to tank charge moves instead of "wasting" the energy gain on a dying pokemon. Sims can't really account for that trick but it can help with gaining a bit of DPS in some situations. I have a recording, but it's sitting in the unedited folder like everything else I've recorded for the last 2 months.

I later also did a unique 6 with no boost and no pseudos against HS, but I had no idea the perfect Gyarados I had powered up in the meantime made such a big difference.

Like others have said, Gyarados is a good option. Against EQ he is better than a level 30 Kyrogre, and making a single dodge can be the difference between 3 HPs and 5. This team can beat a Donphan without needing weather boost, but it's close.
