Does Loss Of Motivation Stop At 20% Level ?

I know that all defenders should lose motivation at the rate of about 10% per hour (regardless of whether initial CP is above or below 3000).
However, I have been putting my 3005 CP Blissey into a very rural gym and she appears to lose motivation at about 10% an hour for about 8 hours and then sits at 601 CP (20% level) without being fed for several hours more. This has happened on a couple of occasions and I don't know whether she has been defeated in the gym or simply lost the remaining motivation over time. I have never seen her in the gym with less than 601 CP.

It appears to me that the motivation stops decreasing when the CP is lowered to 20% of the initial value. This leaves any pokemon easily beatable in one attack and so encourages the gym to be attacked, but does not leave an empty gym (which could look bad for Niantic if many gyms were empty and grey).

Can anyone confirm these observations, and does anyone out there know the exact rate of decay of motivation for a defender in a gym throughout its complete time in a gym ?

Or to ask this another way, how long will a defender last in a gym until it returns to you after losing all its motivation, if it is not attacked and is not fed ?

I thought they wild eventually drop out. Thank you for your observation. Means I wont need to feed Pokemon that much anymore during nights.

Thanks for the replies - I didn't realise previously that the loss of motivation stopped at 20% of the initial CP value (previously my mons were placed in higher turnover gyms and I had assumed that the loss of motivation continued at the same rate until it reached zero).
