Does it matter which Pokestops you get your eggs from?
For example, if you visit a bunch of Pokestops along the beach, are you more likely to get water type eggs?
I walk a lot, but I tend to walk in the same areas (around my house and work), since I don't have much time to explore a huge variety of places just to play PG. So I end up also going to the same Stops over and over. I have hatched 629 eggs now, and the vast majority of them are super common and lame, and they are the same ones over and over. I currently have 257 Pinsir candies, and I've only caught a few of them in the wild, the rest from 10k eggs. In stark contrast, I have only hatched one Snorlax, and two Lapras. Obviously those are some of the rarest and most desirable ones, but really, 1 or 2 out of 629 eggs...???
I initially thought that eggs were generated completely at random, but my experience does not support that theory.

Yes it does in my own opinion, I have hatched over 1400 eggs and I do feel the same way. At times it is much randomized as there are still a small percentage where random pokemons come out in normal pokestop especially the 2km and 5km. However in terms of 10km, I often made a practice in such that if I wanted Lapras, I emptied my egg slots just to go to a certain beach area where a lapras have been spotted in the lure once in a while, and voila. Should a pokestop drop a Lapras in a lure every once in a while, then that pokestop has a good possibility of dropping a 10km with Lapras in it.

People use a sample size of 12 eggs and "Nope, went to Charmander nest and didn't hatch Charmander so it doesn't make a difference."
I believe each Pokestop has a hidden weighted spawn pool just like Lures do. One lure right next to another will consistently spawn different rare Pokemon. Why wouldn't eggs be any different?
I play in 3 different distinct locations predominately and I find that my eggs are weighted slightly in favor of Pokemon that spawn there frequently. For example, by my office is a big electric nest, and I'm rocking a 7% chance for magnemite/voltorb from 5km and 20% chance for electabuzz from 10km. Also, I'm at 20% Magikarp for 2km eggs which is much higher than it seems for most...but it makes sense given I spend most of my other time by the waterfront farming karp/Psyduck
If it makes you feel any better, I've only hatched 1 Lapras and 1 Snorlax and I'm at 927 eggs hatched.
So you can go to sleep at night knowing you have better luck than some other jabroni ;)
Also, yes. Believe 100% location influences.
As of yesterday I've stopped spinning any Pokestops for items at my usual spots if I have an empty egg slot, and am purposefully walking out of my way to random stops I don't normally go to. Also, I'm trying to hit spots that I've seen anything rare spawn at before. Hopefully this helps turn my luck around!
Yes, i also think the pokestop location affect the type of pokemon hatched.
because when my pokemon is hatched, usually at home, but the location of pokemon shown isnt at home, but elsewhere.
so far out of 100eggs i hatched, there is 1 snorlax, 2 dratini, 1 chansey and the rest are just craps..
and that snorlax location is the place that mostly have spawn snorlax.. i guess..
I watched this video on YouTube of this guy that went to nest and picked up eggs there to see when he hatched them if it will be that Pokémon from the nest, but it wasn't. So I don't think it matters where you pick up the egg. By the way you should really check out his channel he has really helped me out in so many ways and he helped out so many other people, his channel name is trainer tips.
