Does hatching give you candy also?

I hatched a Dratini yesterday. man was I thrilled to get a good dragon. Then I went to level up my Dragonite and saw that I had an additional 25 candies. I started jumping up and down. I've been buddying with a Dragonair to get get dragon candies to grow my Dragonite. Is this normal?

Yes it does. The longer the distance is you have to walk to hatch a egg, the more (on average) candy you can obtain.
