To Dodge or Not to Dodge

In my other thread about Gary vs Alk.

Dondon wrote the point of the Glass Cannon Tier is to win as fast as possible.

It got me thinking about dodging. Sometimes I choose not to dodge quick moves, and even sometimes I choose not to dodge a power move (usually from Blissey). I do this to soak damage to fill my energy bar faster and increase my own speed.

This is not potion efficient, but there are times I have potions to burn and I'm only concerned about time.

Does anyone else do this ever?

It definitely seems that you can do the max damage without dodging. Energy bar seems to pause during a dodge. Especially with Blissey, this is important so yes I have done it.

Not dodging charge attack is just plain stupid dodging just quick attack is viable strategy and faster than dodging everything but I now think Dodging everything is better why? because you use less potion & revive which also means you spin less poke stops.

The only pokemon I sometimes don't dodge the charge on is Blissey.

As for using less potions, I battle a lot. I also walk a lot for stops.

Current 59 potions 35 super 34 hyper 255 max
138 revives and 39 max revives.

Needless to say sometimes Im more after time management than resource conservation

I dodge everything I have 1000 item storage. I constantly have 250+ max potion, 200+ max revive, 80 great ball and 180 ultra ball the rest is disposable/I don't care

for some mons were the charge attack can come quickly you are better of dodging everything you can moves life bodyslam or if you take rhydon against snorlax and find it has heavy slam it can get nasty otherwise (I've taken to blasting through them with my exeggute and I am starting to think the only attackers a person needs are 3-4 with solar beam. (rhydon, gyrados, snorlax, blissey, vapereon loves em)

gym system is broken...not sure it is my phone but even if i dodge and the game thinks i didn't then i get stuck in invisible loop, so i switch out, but then it sees my other mon as KO and I can't use them. plus the clock keeps running when there is lag so a 2 second switch becomes 5-10 seconds. i'm close to the end game on my own terms...

really the only thing keeping me in before was trying to find efficient prestigers and I have. hypno with confusion.

rares are too hard to find without going way out of the way...and even the local comm college has lost all its spawn points...

Not so long ago I used to pride myself on dodging everything, but now I'm like you. If I'm in a hurry I just dodge the specials. Over half my 1000 capacity bag is max potions and max revives, so yeah time can be more valuable than recovery items. Especially if I'm trying to get a bunch of guys into gyms quickly to collect on 10, before they start getting knocked right back out.

I think part of it (for me at least), is that when Blissey came along, the idea of not dodging became more acceptable to me (out of necessity), and that started to spread to other battles and scenarios.

Plus I'm getting lazy. :)

As you level higher as well, I think people dodge less since it's not that necessary, especially if you are attacking a temporary tower (with low lvl mons).

Just want to clear it ASAP and dodging slows it down a little...
