Do not underestimate Breloom with Sludge Bomb

With the following team (all level 30), I won with 25 seconds to spare and my Dragonite's health in the red, which means that missing just one more dodge would have resulted in a wipeout:

15A/15D/11S Entei with FS/OH
15A/13D/15S Gardevoir with Conf/DG
12A/15D/14S Espeon with Conf/FS
15A/15D/14S Alakazam with Conf/FS
13A/15D/15S Alakazam with PC/FS
14A/14D/11S Dragonite with DT/Hu

(I did not power up my Moltres or Flareon as I am waiting for Charmander Community Day. No Metagross.)

Few level 40s will make it a lot easier then.

Yeah, took my first Breloom today. Opened with Lugia and figured "Hey, this'll be my Lugia's first 3* single-mon run!" but NOPE! SludgeBomb corroded its way through 3/6 of my team because I was expecting Fighting moves and threw up my Gardevoir team.

Very noticeable problems:

1) 6xL30... spend some dust, particularly on that 15/14/14 'zam, your Gardevoir, and possibly the Entei too.
2) Only one flying-type move against a mon double-weak to moves of that kind...
3) I try to limit myself to two glass counters per raid, and they have to come in at the start. Maybe 'zam - Espeon - 'zam - Gardevoir - Entei - Dragonite? Or swap the 12A Espeon out for something with a double-flying moveset? Or an Ex/SA Lugia?

Edit: since you're talking Sludge Bomb, a weatherboosted Crobat (or two) with AS/AC should be pretty good

I know my team is far from optimal. It is basically my Machamp solo team (which requires minimal dodging against DP), except that Exeggutor was replaced with an Entei.

Why did I see no need to power up a Flying-type or replace a glass cannon with a bulkier alternative? Because I was misled by the Breloom solo guide, which gave me the impression that Breloom would be a pushover like Piloswine.

In fairness, overall (or maybe for the weakest version?), the guide says “trivial”. Specifics though, it lists sludge bomb as “challenging”.

Supposed to be "Trivial" with optimal L25+ mons.

Had to Swap out (L37 97% Dragonite for L38 91% Gardevoir, and CTM'd L25 86% Rayquazza to double flying) still just made it no dodging.

Gardevoir beating the clock 3x DG L38 91%
Espeon one hit KO'd by SB L36 82%
Alakazam like Espeon frail 2x OH L34 %80
Rayquazza held ground L25 86%
Moltres was lacklustre even at L34.5 82%
Entei unloaded 4x OH L28 95%

Dodging Sludge Bomb could be the key to solo and save resources. Skarmory may have merit but not to solo.

What makes Breloom "trivial" to defeat is its double weakness to flying. Double weaknesses make a huge difference in T3 solos. Ostensibly weaker flying types (with flying moves, obviously) will perform better than most higher CP counters with single type effectiveness. For example, on my team, my CP 2158 Scyther with flying moves outperforms my CP 3724 Mewtwo (C/SB), and my CP 2854 Entei (FS/FT). My CP 2574 Rayquaza with flying moves far and away outperforms my CP 3402 Rayquaza with dragon moves against Breloom.

I remember when people used to complain that they had a hard time with Omastar, and they were using Machamps or Raikous instead of exploiting the double weakness to grass. Or they'd struggle with Scyther, but they weren't using any rock types. If a raid boss has a double weakness, and you are not exploiting it, then yeah, it is going to be quite a bit harder than if you do exploit the double weakness.
