Well, I'll definitely be more choosy when transferring Pokémon due to the fact that gyms can't have two of the same type. I'd imagine that the top 7 will still be running rampant until we all get a better feel for the revamped gym meta (old habits die hard), so having an assortment would definitely help the chance you can fill an open slot in one of your team's gyms.

And figuring that you are just going to dump whatever pokemon into a gym.
I got hordes of 1200-2500 pokemon, that won't have any use anymore except to toss into a gym and transfer to a professor when they return.
