Do Eggs count on Research Tasks?

So let's say I get a Field Research to get a Dragon-Type Pokemon, or a Special Research to get an Aerodactyl. I know that trading does not count, but do hatched Pokemon count?

Catching and hatching are separate requirements. Hatching a dragon/Aerodactly doesn't clear the catch tasks and vice versa.

(It's a bit confusing because the medals have always said "catch" when they mean "acquire", counting catching, trading and hatching.)
