did you buy incubators?

I saw few post some time ago which told that its good moment to buy incubators.
Personally i always see them as Niantic commercials, "buy incubators" and thats why i dont take them seriously.

Anyways, i have been walking candys for my chansey and been hatching eggs and also got few incubators with coins collected from gyms and here is my experience so far:
I have got plenty of 10km eggs (feels like they have increased drop rate for em) but i have only hatched shitty (imo) gen 2 pokemons.

So here comes my questions.

Did you fall victim for those commercials (imo) and buy incubators with real money? Have you got any good pokemons?
and by good i mean pokemons that have high max cp or chansey or snorlax.
Anything else is trash for me.
IV's wont matter that much for me with these good pokemons.

I got a lot of 10 km eggs recently and hatched Dratinis, a Snorlax and a Lapras, but 80% of them were useless crap like Sudowoodo. I use only the coins I get from gyms, wouldn't spend real money which would mean maybe 20 Bucks for a Snorlax or Lapras.

i have a pretty steady 100 coin a day income from gyms I usually keep 3 incubators going the freebie and two bought

  1. Nope, been stacking my coins from gyms and resisted buying incubators since Valentines Event. I never spent real money in the game since the Halloween event.
  2. Haven't hatched anything really good for a while, but like I said only using infinite incubator now, so not hatching much. Last time I hatched a chansey or snorlax was before the new year. I believe I did hatch a Lapras though a couple months back. Never hatched a Larvitar or Dratini yet. hoping something good with these.

I only buy incubators once a month or so with gym coins and save the rest waiting for a 2x candy or 2xdust event (I normally get 100 coins per day so if 30 days I get aprox 3k coins I spend around 2k and save the rest, note that I have only been doing this since January, before that I could not get 10 gyms per day, 6-7 max).

Last time I spent real money was during halloween (completed my dex with a Lapras hatched on those days).

I don't know exactly the crap mons I get (they are a LOT), but since the new gen2 release with the increased drop of 10k eggs I have hatched 22 10km eggs, of them I have got 2 Dratini, 4x Larvitar and 1x Mareep, rest was crap, so 7/22 were actually usable and good mons for me (their candies, not the mon indeed), not pretty high iv on any of them, only the Mareep had 90%+.

I am with you that incubators feel like a waste, they are more a dust genarator than anything else, I will see them usable again when breeding comes out, for example without egg hatches or travelling to another city it could take me months to get mon like Piloswine, but the only 2 Swinub I have are one male and one female, so I would spend more coins on incubators if I know what I am gonna get for sure.

At this point with the actual huge egg pool and with a lot of mon that cannot even be hatched (like gen2 starters), it is almost imposible to get what you want/need.

I've been buying quite a lot of incubators since gen2. I've hatched 22 10 KM eggs so far and "only" 6 of those were pineco. Other than that:
- 5/6 Dratini
- 5 Mareep
- 2 Chansey
- 1 Snorlax
- 1 Lapras
- 1 Larvitar
- 1 Sudowoodo

Couldn't be more fortunate considering the odds.

We are allowed to use a game we enjoy very much for free. Spending some real money to pay for niantics affords is just perfectly fair.

I believe that was my thread you are referring too. And I said IF you are saving to get incubators now is the time. That was based on the new percentages of drops per Silph Road as well as my opinion that they will likely add the currently unrealeased egg mons soon which will ruin those good percentages. And yes I buy incubators. Since gen 2 release I have opened 16 Larvitar, 29 Dratini (one was 100%) 4 Mareeps (one 96%), 24 Pinecos, 1 Snorlax, 2 Laprases, 9 Chanseys (one was 93%), and a ton of junk too. The unmentioned CPs were all below 90%.

They will dump new mons probably for Easter. And I do not want any of them in place of the better mons already in eggs. At that moment the draw will be worse.

So I stand by my advice. It's not a commercial or a gimmick. It's percentages. But do as you will.

Not as many as you, not as good as you, but a lot lot better than before gen 2. Around 5 euro per week and 8-10 daily from gyms goes to incubators since 9-10 weeks ago.

1.No. I'm not going to spend money on this game. Niantic have failed to ensure healthy gameplay environment by losing their fight with spoofers. Even if they ever fix that, it is unlikely that they will get banned and I assume they will get to keep all the "illegally" obtained stuff.

  1. Kind of, I guess. Depends on your standards. I am almost level 32, I have never cheated and I have been having a VERY hard time obtaining coins because of mystic spoofers dominating my entire town. I only buy incubators for 10 km eggs, which seem to be very rare. I have never caught a Lapras, I don't nearly have enough candies to evolve a Dratini to a Dragonite, I have only met 2 Chanseys (during the February event), and only a few days ago I evolved my first Gyarados. But at least it's all legit. If you wanna see what exactly I have, just click on my profile.

You are one of the very last ones of a disappearing kind. For that, I respect you.

Spending money in a game doesn't make you a victim, but no, I haven't been buying incubators lately.

Also, I'd like to add that the "I got Pinecos so I was ripped off" shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how eggs work. Just because those "bad" mons are packaged in 10K eggs has nothing to do with what you didn't get. You could have gotten the same rarity level junk packaged in 2K or 5K eggs. You spin a Pokémon at a stop, not an egg. It's just disguised until you walk it.

I have spend quite a bit of real money on incubators and granted a lot of the stuff you hatch is useless, even in 10 km egss. But there are good reasons for my actions:

1) I only started playing this february, so I have felt totally and utterly behind everybody else and have felt the need to catch up fast and egg hatching helps with that. I'm now level 27.

2) I can afford it no problem, I just don't tell my wife.

3) Hatching eggs in FUN and motivates me to walk around playing the game.

4) I have gotten some crucial pokemon from egg hatching, that I would never have gotten otherwise given that my small town barely ever have any even semirare pokemon around. Without much egg hatching the game would be boring and feel like an exercise in futility.

Great post.

For me it's also the fact it's 50 damn cents an egg. My kids freak out when one is hatching which is priceless. I hand out more money to homeless folks on the way to work than I do this game. And I enjoy this game. I have no idea where the "oh you spend I'll look down on you" bs comes from. It really stupid.

It's fun so I don't mind spending some. If you don't that's fine but you can be just as proud as those that order a drink, eat free breadsticks, and leave no tip. That's fine and I'm sure it's a great personal accomplishment that you've pulled one over in the "establishment". Neat. But the restaurant would close if others didn't actually pay fair costs for fair returns.

A lot depends on where you are in life and where you are. I also have my kid present at most of 10km hatches and when a Snorlax I feel worth 50 euros at least.
But if I was a student lets say, I would chiosed beer instead most probably :).
But if I would not be in IT (best area to work in my country) as a romanian I would probably spent 5 euro at double something events, and not every week.
