defending gyms with arcanines

Here where I live Growlithes are very common, so I always find arcanines defending gyms, wich I think its not that good, only for the cp.

I tried to look for optimal pokemons to prestige those gyms but the result wasnt as good I expected. Can anyone maybe tell me why? I should kill 2 with the same cp, or 1 with half the arcanine cp. I usually dodge the charge moves.

the pokemons I use:
- golduck 71% 1350 cp WG/HP
- kabutops 91% 1425 cp Mud Shot/Stone Edge
-Omastar: 1032 cp Mud shot/ HP

kabutops and omastar have double resistance to fire, and arcanine is weak to ground and water attacks.

I also have another omastar cp 1139 93% with mud shot/rock slide. Is it worth powering up as a defender compared to the WG/rock slide?

I don't think there are any better prestigers into Arcanine than Omastar.

When I see Arcanines in a gym that I want to prestige I smile big!
A Vaporeon with a good moveset can crush an Arcanine with double the CP, with only dodging the charge moves.

The problem with the mons you listed is their low HP (Golduck is ok).

Rhydon and Vaporeon are top notch against Arcanine, both to prestige and to attack gyms. With rouhgly 1/2 the CP and dodging the charge moves, you should be able to kill 2 with 1 and a half (or two with the same CP).

i will look for those too, but i dont see many eves and the 2 vaps i have are with water pulse...

i used to see tons of rhydon 2 months ago, and i didnt catch them thinking they suck, now with the new patch i cant find them anymore

Your Omastar looks perfect... just be sure to dodge charge moves, especially if it's Bulldoze, as it will be super effective.

yeah maybe it was because the arcanines i tried to fight today had bite/bulldoze most of them.... but who puts arcanines with those movesets in gyms!!!??

I feel like most Arcanine I've seen in gyms have had that moveset.
